Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottle Conditioned, Occasional;
We are just launching our newest beer, The King John, an amber IPA at 4.5%abv. It's a full-bodied ale with lots of late-hop goodness to it. Our artwork for this one is another image from railway artist John Austin. King John was a 6000-class ("King") locomotive on the Great Western Railway. All of the locos were named after English Kings. King John was launched in 1930 and ran the London-Plymouth-Taunton line in passenger express service until 1962 when the King class were replaced by diesel hydraulic locomotives. The King John will be available in pubs from February 2007, and bottle-conditioned by March. Ask for him by name!

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of yeast, medium notes of citrus fruits, and light notes of phenol. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of fruit, elderflowers, and lemongrass, leading to a lightly tart finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Pours slightly hazy golden with a small white head. Distinct Brett aroma. Medium body, citrusy tart and stringent. Dry and bitter finish. Quite nice, but again I doubt that the Brett is intentional. 230808

Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toffee, buttery. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Bitternes is shell harsh - butter bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (010808)

Bottle, shared by fonefan. A clear golden beer with a minimal off-white ead. Slightly sour on the nose, but mostly citrusy and fruity. The sourness is present in the mouth too, but in a nice brett-ish way. Surely not intended. Fruity too, but not much maltyness going on. Dry, slightly astringent mouthfeel and a sourish finish. Nice in a way, but sure gone bad. (080823)

Bottle at Ulfborg RB tasting. Thanks fonefan! Poured hazy golden with a fine white head. Aroma is citric but also brett like as if it was a bit infected. Flavour is fruity and citric but the brett is there again. Need to be rerated if possible.
