Citrus fruity aroma. Highly bittered, lightly sweet and woody. Session weight with light CO2. Deep red-brown. Finishes medium with woody bittering. Better than many.

Draft at pub. Dark red/brown. Caramel scent. Smooth nutty flavor. Not bad for a style I am not big on.

On tap. Dark copper pour. Aroma holds mostly caramel and biscuit malt; flavor is much of the same. Dull and uninteresting, but not bad.

pours a deep copper, again with a white head. The nose was sweet candy and spiciness, which put me in mind of Goldings hops - I did ask but the brewer wasn’t around and the barman didn’t want to say for sure. Tastewise, this was quite tangy in an almost sourdough bread way, the spicy hop bite playing nicely with the maltiness of the beer. Overall, I thought this to be a good solid bitter, crisp with a long dry finish.

Appearance is a brown amber. Pretty plain with no head but served that way from the bar to fill the glass. Aroma is malty and nutty which follows through the flavor. The finish is slightly bitter and lingers. Not bad but not great.

Pours red-brown with no lacing. Nothing stands on on the nose or palate of this beer but a slight grassiness. Like most ESB’s it’s a little flatter in carbonation. Balanced, but just OK

NachlamSie (2153) - Tennessee, USA - APR 11, 2010
Pint at the brewpub. Pours pretty dark red with a whitish head. The aroma is of basement, toffee, wood and peat. I’m not too crazy about the style, but this is not too bad really. The flavor is of caramel, an even bittersweetness and tree bark type bitterness. None of the stuff I dislike about ESB’s is strong in this brew.

Pours an amber color with a tan head. Aroma is toast, caramel, fruit, and earthy. Flavor is malty, caramel, toast, fruity, slight grain, and a bitter slightly earthy finish.

Reddish-brown not quite clear color. Leaves slight lacing. Earthy, caramel notes present. Earthy, caramel flavor. It has good balance and flavor.

Reddish-brown colour. Leaves no lace. Earthy, caramel nose. Earthy, caramelly flavor. It’s slightly fizzy for the style. It has good balance and flavour, even if it lacks in complexity.
