2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 NachlamSie (2153) - USA - AUG 20, 2008
On tap. This is a cloudy dark golden ale with no head. The aroma is humble, but has suggestions of melons, wood, bread, and cinnamon. The flavor bears a peculiar resemblance to Cinnamon Toast Crunch, complete with some kind of cereal graininess and a sugary sweetness. Overall, it’s a pretty mild brew which I found unique, though lacking real finesse. Also, from what I gather this is intended to be an English-styled pale ale.

On tap at the Brewpub in SC. 100+ degrees outside and I was an Oregonian in trouble. A very mild and weak Pale Ale. Not a bad beer, just needs more of everything. Was suprised that their India Pale Ale was a seasonal and not offered.

Draft at brewery. Cloudy golden color. Aroma slight with a bit of citrus and hops. Mouth feel was about average or a little weak. Very little head that quickly dissipated. Overall I thought it disappointing. Bitter with no other flavors.

Draft at pub. Hazy copper with a thin white head. Scent is caramel and a hint of hops. Taste is more on the malt side....earthy bitter finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 KyotoLefty (3762) - Kyoto, JAPAN - FEB 14, 2011
Draught at the brewpub. Ok hopping, very light malt, light flavor all around, really. Ok, but not really interesting, could use more hops and malt. Easy drinking, though, and decent.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Velkyal (220) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JAN 5, 2011
deep orange amber colour with a touch of white foam. Being a classic American Pale Ale, can you guess what the nose was? Yes, citrusy, grapefruity hoppiness - which is exactly what I want and expect from an American Pale. Drinking the beer was an exercise of sweet caramel malts providing a nice counterbalance to the zingy, orangey bite of the hops. Clean and very easy to drink.

Orange-amber--dark for a Pale Ale. Almost no nose but a little musty. Nicely balanced palate--slightly creamy malt with balanced hops. Really good for the style.

Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, and floral slightly citrus hops. Flavor is malty, crystal malts, and a bitter earthy slightly citrus finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10202) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 7, 2009
Hazy beige. Soft, slightly yeasty aroma with a light berryish fruitness. Canned mushroom character and a strong yeast note detract from what should be a clean pale ale presentation. Caramelly, earthy palate with low bitterness. It’s drinkable beer but well off what you want to see in an APA.

Orange-burnt umber color. Sweet malty aroma with mild carbonation.Thin body, fizzy carbonation. Not much to this one either but has a gentle grassy hop kiss in the finish.
