2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, USA - MAR 20, 2004
Copper color with a nice head and lacing. All these beers from HB Brewing are lacking in the aroma dept. Light, malty with an even lighter hop taste (fo an IPA).
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 joeneugs (1618) - Livermore, California, USA - APR 8, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. It pours golden orange with a small off white head. The aroma has sweet tropical fruit, peach and pine. The flavor is big and bitter with hints of caramel and buttered toffee. Some off flavors cooked veggies throws it off before a piney finish. Too much caramel malt and brewing flaws to try again.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 womencantsail (3934) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - MAR 26, 2011
A: Pours a clear straw like color with a finger of white head.
S: Lemon and Pine Sol right away tells me this isn’t going to be good. Celery, grass, spinach, and lettuce are some of the other aromas to this beer. Very vegetal and green. Just a bit of bready malt.
T: More of the same on the palate. Grass, lemon, lemon peel, and lots of vegetables. Slightly bitter with some pine and grass, and a sweetness that I would describe as white grape juice.
M: Medium in body with an abrasive carbonation.
O: This is an IPA gone terribly wrong.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AmEricanbrew (4122) - roam, Louisiana, USA - DEC 30, 2009
Hazy amber color/ fleeting head. Mild fruity floral hop aromas. medium body. Muddled floral, pine hop flavors with caramel malts.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kosko20 (350) - Hopewell Junction, New York, USA - MAR 10, 2009
Solid IPA. I’m looking at the other ratings from this brewery and they are all from 2006 or 2007. Its not rated very well but I’m guessing they’ve improved in the past 2 to 3 years because all their brews I had in December 2008 were pretty decent.
Pour is a very nice dark golden ruby with a nice off white head that gives good lacing. Aroma is nicely balanced of citrus (grapefruit, lemon) and floral hops with caramel and some nice roasted malts. Flavor is much of the same with a good bitterness. Palate is good carbonation and a very nice mouthfeel. Probably HBs best brew.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 realale420 (399) - west covina, California, USA - SEP 21, 2006
On tap poured a hazed amber/orange color with a small off white head. The aroma had a big caramel malt presents with citrus hops. Taste was slightly bitter, but not what you would expect from an IPA. Overall a decent beer that had an alright balance.
2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 TheDean (786) - MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 24, 2006
This is kinda a blah IPA. Bit of a hoppy taste to it, but nothing overwelming or even that would make me want to drin another unless it was like $1 at the local pub.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 joet (1876) - Fulton, California, USA - JUN 23, 2006
Very sweet, very hoppy, floral a touch of bubblegum, Nearing what some people call a double IPA but without the alcohol. Protein rich body. Although not what I was expecting, this was delicious even if a bit heavy for HB.
