Extremely sweet nose - very barley wine esque - oxidized brown sugar, caramel, some cardboard, a good deal of alcohol. Pours amber, nice clarity, no head or lace. Sweet, notes of brown sugar, oxidized, somewhat cardboardy, alcohol. Lingering brown sugar notes. Well, its old, somewhat thinned out and not really very carbonated. Not bad though, but not really good wither.

33cl bottle, thanks Alex. Clear toffee brown with loose thin head. Wow, this smells like a sherry oxidize barleywine. Candy corn, leather, tobacco...super sweet. Tastes pretty much like the nose, sweet and oxidized with a thinner body...kind of caramel apple thing going on. Has a bit of a burn on the way down.

Sehr oxidierter Geruch, leicht nach süßem Apfel. Oxidierrter Geschmack, am stäksten kommt noch der Malz-Grundton durch. Der Alkohol ist ebenfalls erkennbar, der Hopfen ist nur noch am Rande vorhanden. Würzig, aber aufgrund des Alters nicht sehr ausgeprägt. Kaum ausgeprägter Abgang mit leichter malzigen Würzigkeit. Clear golden with a medium white head. Sweet aroma with ripe fruits and caramel. Sweet flavour with yeast, caramel and ripe fruits. Finished sweet and full.

Draft. A dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, and caramel, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. The body is thick.

Alc. 12.0%. Clear medium yellow orange color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, toasted, malty, sugar, alcohol, light marzipan. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, alcoholc warm. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100603]

On tap. RBESG Rome 2010 at "Oasi Della Birra". Comes at 12% ABV. Clear golden with a white head. Sweet malt in the nose and fat alcohol. Rather solid body with loads of metal and a metallic edge. Rather boozy finish. Almost a Malt Liquor. I’m a bit confused about this one being retired. The owner of the bar said that all of his tap beers came from German brewer "Herrnbräu". Maybe the brand has moved? 030610

Bouteille de 330 ml partagée avec MartinT et Fred82. Arôme: Légère odeur de caramel et d’alcool. Apparence: La couleur est ambrée voilée. Saveur: Goût de caramel avec une pointe d’alcool. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement vineuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Légère présence de caramel en arrière goût. Appearance : Amber no head.
Aroma : Oxidation, sweet caramel
Taste : Really sweet, notes of caramel. Lots of oxidation.
Overall : Fun experience. Not much complexity to me but quite interesting. Thanks Martin for sharing this really old brew !!!
