Bottle from my cellar, courtesy my brother DYCSoccer17. Hazy amber brown pour with no head. Lots o floaties. Sugary aroma, with some ethanol present in the nose. Wow, sweet...almost cloyingly so. Alcohol is hidden quite well, although I am not sure how old this beer is therefore it may have just mellowed nicely. Drinkable in small amounts, warming finish. Thinnish mouthfeel, which is appropriate. Good beer, I just wish it was a little more balanced.

16-ish year old bottle. Poured murky, deep amber with just some loose bubbles of head around the edges. The aroma picked up warm, well-aged bready notes, toffee, and caramel, with mild peppery notes and oxidation accenting.. a little heat on the back of the nose, but remarkably soft. The flavor found broken-down bread and caramel malts at the core, with a bit of molasses and peppery warmth around.. finished grainy with too-aged malts and some warmth. Heavier-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. slick, yet grainy.. not bad, but quite a bit past its prime.

Pours super clear with a small white head. The nose is apple, caramel, wood and booze. The taste is super sweet, no bitter. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth, the body is heavy and finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Extremely sweet nose - very barley wine esque - oxidized brown sugar, caramel, some cardboard, a good deal of alcohol. Pours amber, nice clarity, no head or lace. Sweet, notes of brown sugar, oxidized, somewhat cardboardy, alcohol. Lingering brown sugar notes. Well, its old, somewhat thinned out and not really very carbonated. Not bad though, but not really good wither.

33cl bottle, thanks Alex. Clear toffee brown with loose thin head. Wow, this smells like a sherry oxidize barleywine. Candy corn, leather, tobacco...super sweet. Tastes pretty much like the nose, sweet and oxidized with a thinner body...kind of caramel apple thing going on. Has a bit of a burn on the way down.

-/10/8/8/12/8

Draft. A dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, and caramel, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. The body is thick.

On tap. RBESG Rome 2010 at "Oasi Della Birra". Comes at 12% ABV. Clear golden with a white head. Sweet malt in the nose and fat alcohol. Rather solid body with loads of metal and a metallic edge. Rather boozy finish. Almost a Malt Liquor. I’m a bit confused about this one being retired. The owner of the bar said that all of his tap beers came from German brewer "Herrnbräu". Maybe the brand has moved? 030610
