Aroma was (and this is no exaggeration) farts, metal and rotten egg. Pour was a clear dark gold with no head. Taste was very sweet. Metal and sugar is all I could taste. This beer was so bad I could not let it fill my mouth and touch my cheeks. I kept it in the middle for a second and swallowed (how I normally drink malt liquor). | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | May 7, 2008 Reminder to self, AB product check born on date. To late - 25APR07. Lightly hazed dark straw color with a tall. popcorn colored head. Sweet nose, with grapes, corn silage, grass and beets. I’m reminded of cole slaw. Rice flavors abound, not strong, but certainly there. A light beer and light sake mix come to mind. Some old fashioned glue paste also come to mind. Some mild wood flavors in the finish, perhaps balsa. Not much here, but what is here is not that good. Silphium (2160), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Sep 5, 2007 I’m slowly building my curriculum liquor de malt. This was an especially heavy example, pouring a clear, rich straw hue topped by a sparkling off-white head. A resplendent nose of sweet corn and urine blessed one sense, and the other was aroused by flavors of the earth- rancid, sweet grass, corn-off-the-cob-and-off-in-general, and peculiar but rather harsh metals, though I dare not say which varieties. Do I hear garbage disposal? Pity me not, this is the prize I sought, though I cannot seek it again. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Aug 7, 2005 Another bad high gravity lager. Corn flavor and aroma is more pungent and irritating than most competitors. Seeing it’s behemoth Anheuser-Busch it stands they have nothing to lose from another low rated product. Flavor is bland american lager with almost no hops. Is ther any difference between the Hurricane/Ice/HG??? Taste like the same beer to me. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007Ruff tuff stuff. I have a situation that is high gravity, one that is grave – I am very thirsty! Half pound can dressed in black with bold bright lettering. So, you ask, did he really not drink this before? Should I be ashamed to say I did enjoy this before? Is there anyone in the US that never tasted this before? This is not a ticker, it is an actual rating as I enjoy it. Wanted some rate beer experience first. Pours like strong ale in my steeler stein. Initially it is very fizzy and the carbonation fades to no lacing or even bubbles. Color of a dark yellow / light brown appearance, did they add some caramel fruit coloring? Not much aroma but what exists is a hint of sweetness. The aroma is no hint of what lurks within the flavor. The initial flavor is an aimless alcohol impact. The background flavor is of a typical good quality pale yellow american beer, but that is the background. It is the alcohol of a barley wine, strong ale and dubbel. There is a bite in the back of my throat. I think the initial numbing of the flavor makes your taste buds accept it easier as you continue. Didn’t I read that high gravity is good for some beer styles? After all, it’s brewed for a distinctive bold taste? When slugged, there is some fizz on the back of the throat but for the most part this is pretty flat. Usually it is the finish that makes IPA and imp stouts unbearable, but with this brew the initial rough bitterness is hard and unbearable. After the initial onslaught, it may become acceptable. The pre-finish nearly insults my uvula. As far as the % alcohol goes, this is on par with some of the better high % beers, brown shugga and elephant! Dare I say the finish of Bells wheat love?
