COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark, unfiltered ale with a harmony of rich coffee, chocolate and caramel flavors. Rolled oats added into the mash of heavily roasted grains results in a creamy oatmeal smoothness. Assertive hopping balances the sweetness of this black brew with proportional bitterness. A brew of this complexity is nearly a meal within itself but is a perfect accompaniment to hot steamed mussels or oysters on the half-shell. Also recommended for dessert courses of decadent cheesecake or layered into vanilla ice cream for a frozen Stout Float.

Had it on St. Patricks day 2008 draught at the brewery. It was a nice color with a small creamy tan head. Not the best stout I ever had but had a decent creamy taste. I only had one, but it had a light mouthfeel. I will give it another shot.

Awful. On tap at the brewery. The beer was somewhat flat. It had a reddish tinge to the chocolate color of the stout. Taste was like cold old coffeee. Just plain awful.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours almost black with a creamy 1/2" tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and milk/cream. Flavor is creamy, smoky, and rich, with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, hops, and toast. Very smooth and creamy. Well balanced, with a medium-to-full body. This one exceeded expectations.

Draft @ Hurricane. Dark Opaque black, thin off-white creamy head. Sweet aroma of molasses, roasted grain. Flavor of sweet malt, light roast, nice chocolate. Light - medium bodied. Not a bad brew.

Draft. Poured a very very dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor matches the aroma with a slight hop finish. A very smooth beer. I liked this one alot.

Dark colour, nice head. Lots of roast and chocolate malt on the nose. Thin but creamy body. Toasty, with some chocolate accents. OK stout.

Pitch black, with nice brown head and lots of lace. Nitro-pour? Aroma is packed with coffee and cocoa, oatmeal and malted milk aromas. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate, rich cocoa flavors and toasted malt. Balanced by sweetness of oat groats and enough hops to keep it interesting. Very nice.

Nitro at the brewpub. Dark brown with ruby hints around the edges and a decent tan head that hung around for a while. The aroma is pretty subtle with dark chocolate malts and hints of espresso to complement the slight sweetness of caramel. Taste follows the aroma with bitter coffee and dark chocolate malts. There is less sweetness than the aroma suggested. Mouthfeel was creamy due to the nitro with a dry finish. Good though I didn’t get a whole lot of the oatmeal character – maybe because of nitro. This is a fairly drinkable stout with little that stands out.

on nitro-pours a tan head and dark brown color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/molasses, oat. Taste is dark malt-coffee/baker chocolate, burnt/peat, some hops starts to come through and the coffee takes over through aftertaste. Some detractors, but also not my taste.

Draught. Pours black with a spare fizzy light brown head, somewhat diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, coffee, toasted), light hops (flowers), average yeast (dough, leather) with notes of smoke. Medium bodied, slick texture, flat carbonation and a chalky finish. Short duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness; roasted chocolate and coffee malt flavor.
