UPDATED: MAY 28, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden color with bubbly white head and lots of lace. Flowery, perfumey hop aroma. Slightly sweet with citrusy hop and candy flavors. A touch medicinal for my taste, but not bad. Moderate hop bitternss.

Draught during my NC brew tour. WHOA!! Finally, a beer that doesn’t have sour vinegar in the smell! I can actually smell hops! Cool! My olfactory glands welcome the grapefruit and caramel notes. The flavor is decent, though chalky. Plenty of notes akin to lemon seeds and grapefruit juice are noted in the flavor. Little malt is here to provide balance and the hops are a bit on the chemical side, resulting in a fairly haphazard tasting IPA. However, this was the definite winner on my little trip to Huske Hardware. =[

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - MAY 2, 2006
Large draught sample at the brewpub. Hazy, yeasty caramel color with a lasting small white cap and a touch of lacing...pungent, musty/sweaty aroma is full of overripe peaches, cherries and grapefruit, all bleached and burst in the sun, and gym socks and wet earthy humus....body is very dry and citric, softens somewhat midpalate, bitter but surprisingly gentle at the finish...lemony/grapefruity Cascade presence, with woody/dusty undertones....dry, farmy and refreshing, not really clean but interestingly messy, a fascinating and intriguing example and, alas, the only beer of the four I tried here that I would try again.
