It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. The beer has also featured among the seasonal Christmas beers at Alko, the Finnish monopoly retail distributor of beers with more than 4.7% Alc. Pours a deep caramel color with a short tan head. The aroma is lots a caramel malt and some dark fruit. The flavor is dark malts and caramel up front with some dark fruit and another flavor that must be the juniper in the background. It has a light body and a smooth, sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16.9 oz bottle. Pours deep deep brown with amber highlights; has a small beige collapsing head. Aroma consists of toasted bread, toasted marshmallows (on the burnt side), woodsy, overripe dark fruit--interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a beer quite like this before. Taste is malty sweet with a European bent; it’s reminiscent of Samuel Smith’s dark beers; finish is quite bitter, though. Mouthfeel is creamy, body thin to medium, carbonation soft. It’s good, but not exactly a masterpiece.

Perhaps a bit too old, but has aged well.

500 ml bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown with about a half inch tan head that sticks around a little while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is rich and malty, the brew smells like caramel malt, dark bread, herbs, and some dark fruit. The herbal and caramel flavors are strong in this brew. It also tastes like nuts, dark bread, and some dark fruit. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s syrupy and slick with low/moderate carbonation. I think this is a good brew, I liked it! $8.99 a bottle, I think it’s worth trying at that price.

On tap at Crowbar. Sweet, herbal, quite complex, but this is far from a Sathi. Too sweet, they could have made much more out of this.

Bottle. High creamy long lasting good looking off-white head. Hazy dark red brown body. Powerful malt coffee hops aroma. Relatively sweet barley malt coffee liquorice flavor with a spicy note. Low carbonation. Long sweet and smooth finish. Alcohol level seems just right. Very pleasant to drink and certainly a nice surprise.

Tap at Churchkey. Beautiful deep reddish pour with a smaller head. Vinous, dark sweet fruit, with a nice little heft to the palate. Good stuff.

Bottle. Brown with off-white head. Aroma is sweet with a light sour cellulose thing to it. Otherwise notes of almonds, marzipan, malt, yeast, leather. Vinous. Taste is a bit watery at first but some alcohol sweetness kicks in. Notes of burnt caramel, plums, toffee, spices. Ends bitter. Interesting stuff that I need to try again.

50cl bottle at F-hoone, Tallinn. Pours very dark brown with a reddish hue and a minimal off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, some berries, probably juniper and some roasty notes. Also hints of chocolate and coffee. Sweet and malty with a light juniper flavour and a quite dry and bitter finish. Alcohol is well integrated. Mild and easy to drink, but quite tasty! (2012-11-18)
