COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. The beer has also featured among the seasonal Christmas beers at Alko, the Finnish monopoly retail distributor of beers with more than 4.7% Alc. Arctic Circle Ale is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers.

Aroma is full and nuanced. Roasted licorice, citrus, pine, dark chocolate, roasted toffee. Dark red/brown to black. Beige head leaves lacing. Taste has same elements as aroma but not as much roasted, coffee also, pine flavor in finish, full and round, dry finish. A really good finnish beer that I can warmly recommend.

Bottle picked up somewhere in Denver. Great woody/spicy juniper aroma. Taste is more subtle, dark and earthy. Would love another.

500ml bottle from tiong (Matias). Quite red mahogany with a generous biege/brown head that unlike some others both appears and has staying power (unlike your first time). A very bready malt, almost chewy and wet, caramel with some toffee; low carbonation, quite sweet with a moderate to mild body, lots of caramel with a slight bitterness hop on the finish. A little too much sweetness for me though.

The first Finnish craft beer I’ve tasted. Quite nice, almost a barley wine I would say. Dark iced tea appearance, very little head. Sweet malty, dried fruit aroma. Taste is sweet and malts with a bit of citrus hop bite. Kind of thin palate, but coating.

500 ml bottle from a buddy- thanks, John! Pours an initially cloudy amber that settles into a clear, deep reddish amber. Small off-white head. The initial aroma is very woody, which must be the juniper twigs; also toast and caramel malts, brown sugar, and dark fruits. The flavor follows almost exactly the same lines, but not quite the same level of woodiness. Some mild spice, too. Gets more fruity as it warms. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, smooth mouthfeel. Interesting brew.

The aroma is sweet with toasted malt and spice. The appearance is brown with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall I like it.
