Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. The beer has also featured among the seasonal Christmas beers at Alko, the Finnish monopoly retail distributor of beers with more than 4.7% Alc. Cloudy auburn brown color with minimal head. Malty syrup aroma of port and molasses. Rich and sweet malty flavor with some nice tartness. Notes of orange and ginger. Finishes with barleywine-like maltiness enveloping the tongue.

500ml brown bottle with white plastic. It pours a lot nicer than the other Finnish sahti, Kataja, that I have had. It is a deep reddish brown with a big off-white head. The head sticks around for a bit and it recedes with some nice lacing. The smell is a lot like a Munich dunkel, different form other sahti’s I have had. It has a nice chocolatey dark malt presence. The juniper is there as well. The taste is a little bit similar to the other sahti’s, but again it reminds me a ton of a Munich dunkel. It ahs that immense drinkability to it, though it is 7.3%. There is an underlying bitterness, perhaps form the juniper twigs that is welcome. There is so much chocolate and caramel in there that just tastes really great, like a northwoods imperial Munich dunkel. If you can find this try it, it is awesome. 500ml bottle, gift from Finn, thanks. Clear, chestnut coloured body. Last pour was filled with sediments. Bubbly, fawn coloured head with a solid stand. Spotty lacework. Malt-fruity smell with herbs. Well blended and balanced flavour of dark fruits and caramel malts. Finish off with a nice hop bitter tail. Medium bodied. Good drinking (Tromsø, 12.02.2011)

Flaske 0,5l fra Alko Muonio. Dyprød. Litt farget kremaktig skum. Litt uklar. Behagelig fruktig aroma. Litt sitrus. Avrundet smak med litt aprikos & sitrus. Tørr fruktig bitter ettersmak. Innholdsrikt & godt.

Bottle from Tbone, thanks! Dark amber color. Malt, grassy hops and licorice in the aroma. Firm earthy oily hopbitter flavor with licorice and some hidden melon notes. Hops and licorice lingering on in the aftertaste, though the balance ramains largely intact. Nice brew.

Cloudy dark brown beer made with rye as well as juniper. Semi dry palate. Rich malt and rye with some rye spiciness. A little fruit from the hop and quite a bitter finish. Fruity aromatic aftertaste. A bit off the beaten track!

Thanks to Andrè. Pours dark amber with a vanishing beige head. Aroma is definitely sweet, too sweet, and nutty. Flavourwise it sucks. Nothing to add. Not my beer.

500 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a murky brown color with a small beige head that soon recedes to a fine film. The aroma is strong with sweet malts, rye breads and that which I guess is the juniper twigs. The flavor is sweet malts forward with caramel malts, spices, nutty biter hops and rye. The palate is smooth and the carbonation is soft. Finishes medium in duration with lingering juniper. Overall: A boldly flavored brew--This one really grew on me as i drank it, my hats off to the brewer.

500 ml bottle shared by ShareANevada (ba). Pours a caramel brown color with a medium sized frothy beige head. The aroma is caramelized maltiness with herbal notes that tend toward juniper and pine/spruce. The flavor shows a solid malty base (caramel) with notes of wood and juniper berries. There are lighter floral hops. The finish is dry and refreshing. Medium plus body and smooth. An Interesting beer I probably would never have tried otherwise.

50cl bottle. Poured hazy brown color with a very thin head. Aroma is very sahti like, yeasty and malty and lots of juniper. Flavor similar, malty and very hoppy, juniper and some yeastyness. Well hopped, quite dry finish. Fresh and excellent beer.
