COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. The beer has also featured among the seasonal Christmas beers at Alko, the Finnish monopoly retail distributor of beers with more than 4.7% Alc. Arctic Circle Ale is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers.

Aroma is slightly oxodated like sherry. Nice red hazy beer. Taste is slightly metallic some malty sweetness. Very strange beer, maybe a bad bottle… ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasting at beer 14. Aroma has lots of malt and juniper. Rasting is light at first. Then you get the darker malts coming through.

Idiosynkrasie (3708) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 24, 2014
500ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, chestnut colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Grainy aroma with hints of spelt and vague fruitiness lacks intensity. Taste is malty, grainy, herbal, peppery spicy, hints of juniper, subtle sweetness, vague fruitiness. I didn’t check all my ratings to confirm my subjective impression, but: I’d guess that aroma has scored a higher credit than taste overall. And even if that’s not true: the discrepancy of points I’d have to give here for aroma and taste respectively maybe unique in this case. Rich, multifaceted and ambitious concerning taste, rather boring concerning aroma. Unique in this "category".

djoeye (1380) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 15, 2014
Huge fluffy tan/fawn head, stripes and carpets inside mug, hazy copper body. Scents of roasted fruity malts, spicy hops, smoked dried prunes, notes of juniper bushes. Full taste of roasted caramel malts, grilled prunes, some spices, maybe a tiny juniper. Modest carbonation suits the brew well. Good body. Sweet-bitter roasted feel. Finishes with some warmth, roasted malts, herbs, hops, black prunes, fruity-bitter, nice. Brown 50cl btl abv7.3% b@Vinmonopolet Langnes Tromsø, T@home.

Bottle. Pours a dark, mahogany brown, medium tannish head with decent retention and excellent lacing. Nose is big malts, dried fruit (raisins and currants in particular), some slight woodiness, toffee. Mouth is medium bodied, mild sweetness, malt forward, lotta toasted pumpernickel and molasses, figs, dates, prunes, caramel, faint bitterness at the finish. Not getting any Juniper, but this bottle was on sale at 50% off from Binny’s, so it may be past it’s prime freshness. Still a tasty brew to welcome the newest Finn, and Chicago Blackhawk, Teuvo Teravainen, to the NHL. Kippis!
