COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. The beer has also featured among the seasonal Christmas beers at Alko, the Finnish monopoly retail distributor of beers with more than 4.7% Alc. Arctic Circle Ale is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers.

My first Finnish beer. The beer pours a hazed copper colour with a very thin white head. The aroma is Juniper, caramel, raisins, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet, smoky with caramel and molasses sweetness, and a smoked wood aftertaste. This is definitely a winter warmer and the alcohol is slightly noticeable in the aftertaste

En meget anderledes øl, smager ganske udmærket. Til en kølig dag foran kaminen med en god cigar. (Er nybegynder)

My first Finnish beer, this is all sweet malts on the nose and tastes of caramel and dark fruits, with an odd blend of spices (must be the juniper twigs) and a bit of a bitter hop kick at the finish. Not to be confused with ’Finnish.’ The brewery said it was brewed with a large dose of Finnish attitude. I’ll go with that. Not a bad beer at all.

Pours a brown color, with ember hints in it, has a medium, long staying head. Smells of milk chocolate, with hints of dried stone fruits, herbs and stronger notes of caramel. Tastes of unsweetened bakers chocolate with lots of earth and bread, whilst a gentle note of bitter coffee developes from this foundation. Herbs and spices add to that impression, while a lively carbonation introduces a slightly metallic twist to the brew. Earthy chocolate as well as bready malts define the finish, while the beer ends with a slightly slick, bitter note.

My first Finnish beer pours dark & murky into the glass & offers a finger of foam that slowly fades to floating clumps. An interesting brew. With juniper berries I’m expecting something along the lines of gin, but dammit these guys are using juniper twigs so I’m not sure what to expect. I get ripe dark fruit, a hint of leather & a pleasing bitterness. It’s a tad eccentric & seems to be a little under rated here but i am really enjoying this. Recommended.

500 ml bottle for LCBO. Pours a clear reddish amber with small off-white head. Aroma is juniper, caramel, pepper and a little sourness. Flavour is caramel, juniper spiciness, a bit of sour fruit and woodiness. Sticky mouthfeel. Mellow carbonation. Interesting - not one I’d have tons of but good.

Pours light brown, with a light beige head. Strong aroma, that at first feels malty, but after a while notes of hops, pine and alcohol come in. Lots of herbs and raisins on the tongue, not much hoppiness. A different and certainly interesting beer.
