Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Large bottle at Haikon kartano. Unclear amber to light brown color with a medium, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Nose has exciting spruce twig, malts, sweet caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Medium body, oily texture, carbonation is soft. Really different from average and twig aroma and flavor really worked for me.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours a burgandy with a tan head. Taste slightly sweet, dark fruits possibly cranberries or juniper berries. I thought this was so so. I would not drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint at Global Brew that was $12.75 and was listed as 6% ABV. This arrived opaque dark brown and had a nice head. An aroma of dark fruit and sweeter malts. The aroma was not big but did have some nice subtlety. That dark fruit in the flavor, too. It was sweet, powdery, complex and malty. That dark fruit has a lot going on in it and it made this a fun beer to try. Some chocolate came late. Somewhere in there some hop bitterness and some spiciness showed up. Good stuff.

Arctic Circle Ale is somewhat akin to an alpine liqueur with a dose of hops. The juniper expression is not crisp as in gin but more balanced with the malt such that the bitterness and vegetal character is more evident than any piney character. Carbonation is restrained.
