Bottle at Dans courtesy of Aaron, thanks man! Poured a deep, clear, brown with a red tint. Smell is big red licorice, dark fruit, sweet malt, and caramel. Taste is earthy, dark fruits, caramel, candi sugar, and a light bitterness on the finish. Very interesting and a lot going on, quite different. Mouthfeel is thin, with medium carbonation. Overall, a pretty cool beer.

Thanks to Aaron for the pour - clear amber - moderate lace - the nose has an odd bubblegum note up front, but underneath there a some toffee/caramelized sugar notes and light juniper - the flavor is lighter than expected - not a lot going on - just some innocuous sweetness and moderate juniper bitterness - some light woody/earthy notes - light toffee - opens up quite a bit as it warms, with some dark fruity notes - decent brew.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Reddish brown appearance with a small, light brown head. Spicy, sprucey, juniper, dark fruity, caramel, toasty malty aroma. Tangy caramel, bitter herbal, juniper, earthy, candy toffee flavor. Really unique, plaster/earthy bitter, juniper, caramel flavor. Kind of cool to taste.

Caramel, toffee, and dark fruits in the aroma. Malty flavor, with toffee and caramel. Alcohol dryness in the finish. I had never heard of this beer and didn’t know what to expect, but this is really, really good.

Aroma is somewhat stale with juniper, some spices and some malt. Flavour is somewhat stale and weird with juniper, malt and hints of ash. Unique and good.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Sandorf (25) - - MAR 17, 2012
coffee, fruits, floral, clear, brown, minimal head, tan foam, lightly sour, medium sweetness, average carbonation, medium body, was really enjoyable for the first sips, but after a while it was rather hard to finish it.

My Bottom Line:
Burnt caramel, juniper fruitiness and grassy hops merge in this Wee Heavy-like sweet sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the dull dark brown.
-That burnt caramel sure does last long.
-The soft carbonation struggles to support the sweetness.
-The bitterness is redolent of some hoppier Barley Wines.
Bottle. Thx Phil and Anna!

Pours light mahogany into an English pint. Tan head with god retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Thin with sweet malt and caramel aromas. Sweet molasses and tofee upfront turning to earthy bitter jumper on the lasting finish.
