3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Red to brown looks with decent head. Beautiful beer. Scent has rye malts and much bitter juniper berries. Full malt body, and rye actually works here. Drying after taste with not that much hops but bitter juniper. This was an positive surprise.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from the Drink Shop, Tallinn, dark slightly reddish brown colour, almost non-existent cream head. Aroma is nuts, herbs. juniper and rye bread with a note of licorice. Medium to full body, very soft carbonation, long bitter and sour finish. Not bad a combination, I don’t mind fairly soft carbonation but this one was closer to flat in that aspect.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown, small head. Weak aroma of juniper and Coca-Cola. Taste is slightly boozie with juniper and chewing gum. Medium bitterneness and pretty dry. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. I think I like it but it’s kind off somehow.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
deep dark ambre brown colour, slightly hazy liquid, pours a thin layer of creamy sleek tanned foam. aromascape is full of fruit/grape aromas and vegebatle-like tones, accompanied by wood and smoke. a malty with rye, hoppy aroma makes the experience pretty wide but still light. the taste is dark sweet with light bitterness and sourness, very balanced and light without losing character. the body is light, juicy, and dry. this work well with the overall character, but does not really deepen the experience or add anything. one of my favourites from huvila.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. BBE 16.05.2015, this is probably quite fresh. Aroma has roasted barley, spices, sweet malts and licorice. Flavor is roasty with coffee and sweet caramel also having some juniper. Aftertaste has piney bitterness. This is quite sweet but the roastiness and bitterness balances it quite decently. Drinkable yet basic.

Before I open this bottle, first I’d like to say I love Sahti. This bottle does not claim to be Sahti, but it is brewed in Finalnd using typical Sahti ingredients, with the probable exception of the yeast. I’m trying not to expect a Sahti when I open this, but I’m not going to be able to completely separate my evaluation from comparisons to Sahti.
Rich malt aroma. Some caramel aromas mixed with plums. Not smelling any juniper. Fairly clear red/brown color. Spicy malt flavor. Definitely tasting the dark rye. The juniper is subdued during the sip, but as time goes by the other flavors fade away and the juniper starts to present itself as a lingering flavor that was not tasted during the sip. Nice body, easy drinking. This is not a Sahti. Very little in common flavor-wise so I won’t compare. On its own it is a nice easy drinking beer with a refreshing floral aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a somewhat opaque deep red-brown, not much head despite a vigorous pour. No bottle or exp date. Smells malty enough. Despite the lack of head retention, the mouthfeel displays a pleasant and subtle carbonation that gives the medium body a rich texture. Begins somewhat sweet and malty, flavors of brown sugar and a little dark fruit, but this character yields to a woodsy and relatively bitter, dry finish. The progression is really quite nice. Although I wouldn’t have guessed juniper twigs as the secret ingredient, Arctic Circle Ale is tasty and displays a nice progression of flavors and great texture.
