Dark red color, medium head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, dark fruits and some herbs. Taste has caramel, malt, pepper, licorice, chocolate, wood - dry sweet with bitter hoppy finish, nicely balanced with juniper notes, long aftertaste. Medium body and soft carbonation. Excellent brew.

Different than I expected and much different than another juniper beer I’ve had. This one reminds me of a softer easier chewy porter or stout. Poured with a fine light tan head that settles down to a thin cover and some lace. Color is a a cloudy brown with dark amber highlights. Aroma is very malty with hints of rye fruit roasty and the juniper. Flavor is the same but with lots more going on. Roast comes out more. Very well balanced. Texture is like I said, chewy and full with great carbonation. Nice finish. Session.

500ml brown bottle with white plastic. It pours a lot nicer than the other Finnish sahti, Kataja, that I have had. It is a deep reddish brown with a big off-white head. The head sticks around for a bit and it recedes with some nice lacing. The smell is a lot like a Munich dunkel, different form other sahti’s I have had. It has a nice chocolatey dark malt presence. The juniper is there as well. The taste is a little bit similar to the other sahti’s, but again it reminds me a ton of a Munich dunkel. It ahs that immense drinkability to it, though it is 7.3%. There is an underlying bitterness, perhaps form the juniper twigs that is welcome. There is so much chocolate and caramel in there that just tastes really great, like a northwoods imperial Munich dunkel. If you can find this try it, it is awesome. THOUGHTS: It reminded me a little of and ale version of Samichlaus. Very nice. A little like Mad Elf, too. It was one of those great beers that I can’t fully explain the reasons why I like it. It was like fruit juice, liquor and beer mixed together. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium reddish cola with an average to large, tan head that mostly diminished, but kept a nice sheet and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate, dark bread, caramel and wood, some spicy yeast; berries, cola, a little vanilla, hint of smoke, and a fruitiness that must have been the juniper. The initial flavor was rather sweet; while the finish was sweet and bitter with a long duration. There was fruit, malty caramel, dark bread, toasted malt, a little smoke, slight whiskey and port, a little cola, hints of chocolate, toffee and a hint of hops. It almost seemed like with was barrel-aged. The medium body was sort of creamy yet oily, too; and it got a little syrupy sticky by the end with soft carbonation and a lightly dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

Cloudy auburn brown color with minimal head. Malty syrup aroma of port and molasses. Rich and sweet malty flavor with some nice tartness. Notes of orange and ginger. Finishes with barleywine-like maltiness enveloping the tongue.

Pours a clear deep red, with no head except for a thin offwhite film. The aroma is dominated by malt, with dried fruits, dark bread, caramel and burnt sugar. There are also a lot of spicy aromas going on, a "dry" and dusty aroma of juniper berries, as well as rye and the yeast that imparts a very pleasant spicy feel, and there are also some notes of charred oak. The taste is very sweet, with a slightly tart finish. The mouthfeel is slightly thick and with soft carbonation. Overall, this beer is terrific and well worth the money. It’s also somewhat similar to Nøgne Ø’s Imperial Brown Ale.

Large bottle at Haikon kartano. Unclear amber to light brown color with a medium, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Nose has exciting spruce twig, malts, sweet caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Medium body, oily texture, carbonation is soft. Really different from average and twig aroma and flavor really worked for me.

An interesting ale from Huvila. Juniper gives a good aftertaste. At first it tastes a little bit heavy but it´getting lighter when you get used to it. I think this ale is getting better in the process of time. So guys in America will get a good ale.
