Bottle shared by ShareANevada. Poured hazy brown with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit and juniper aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy spice and dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderated to long duration. Refreshing complex standout beer.

500ml bottle. Beautiful thick creamed coffee colored head which diminishes to nice lacing. Dark molasse color, cloudy. Hoppy pungent aroma with hops and pitch, some dark chocolate. Semi oily palate. Flavours of roasted malts and juniper. Pleasantly bitter end.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle ordered at CKDC. Date on bottle is March of ’08 and sampled today. Deep mahogany colour with a late-forming 1-finger beige head. The nose is similar to what you might expect from an English barleywine. British noble hops, vinous malts, brown sugar, juniper (duh), dried dark pitted fruits, and mild cocoa impressions. A bit more of the cocoa and brown sugary sweetness are apparent upon the first sip. Grassy and herbal hop notes, tobacco, juniper and figs/dates/dried dark fruit. The palate could be a little fuller, IMO, though the duration is long. I’m glad to have sampled this tasty brew. Kudos to Huvila and CKDC!

50 cl, flaske, 7,3 % ABV, købt i Frederiks Villa i Faxe Ladeplads, 5. juli 2014.
Mahogni-farvet finsk krydret Ale med orange nuancer i modlys. Lille offwhite skumkrone på max. 1 cm. Ufiltreret.
Aroma af staldgulv, tobak, gær, brændt malt, læder, noget indelukket-aroma, men alligevel helt særligt.
God, fyldig og krydret smag. Meget velafbalanceret. Starter lettere sødt og bittert og senere i billedet kommer krydderierne. God humlebitter eftersmag.
Frisk mundfølelse - medium niveau af kuldioxid.
Speciel og god!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Very dark ruby red with a medium, tanned and firm head. Strongly aromatic-nutty-pine-hoppy, junipery aroma with chocolate, lots of caramely malt and berries. Flavor of juniper, caramely malt, slight sourness, some dull ashiness, chocolatey hints. Medium body, soft carbonation. The flavor was maybe slightly disappointing, but overall this seems worth exporting.

Rating #10 for this beer.
Wow, this one kicks ass. What a pleasant surprise! Deep brown pour, hazy, nice light-tan head. Sweet, molasses-brown-bread with agar aroma. Sweet flavor, brown sugar / molasses and raisin, but under it a nice juniper spiciness and resin that I find both a surprising complement to a sweet dark ale and a very successful complement. Great mouthfeel, no heat, extremely drinkable. It’s sweet (recalling some of the other dark beers from Scandinavia) but if one takes that in stride it’s a really neat piece of brewing. I’m delighted to have had the chance to try this one.
