sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, - FEB 13, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2009 (Bottled) Very dark brown with a smallish, light brown head. Licorice-malty, sweetish aroma with a touch of milky sourness and alcohol. Sourish-malty, starchy and slightly vegetably flavor with licorice and chocolatey sweetness. Alcohol is better hidden than in the aroma. Medium to full body, sticky-syrupy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Quite sweet and somewhat unclean Imperial Stout. Hopefully it gets better with ageing. Was good with sweet chocolate cake, but not so much with drier 70% chocolate. (Draught@St.Urho) Almost black with a very small head. Surprisingly mild aroma with some sourness, some sweetish malt, and hints of licorice. Sweetish-malty, licoricey flavor with dark coffee and hints of sourness. Slicky-sweet, medium to full-bodied,low-carbonated palate. Interesting and smooth, but too sweet to be balanced. More like barley wine than imperial stout. Fortunately, it works better with a chocolate cake - although it shows a little alcohol then.

(Bottle) Pours black with a dark brown head. The aroma is fat malty with tones of dark caramel and chocolate. Some warming alcohol. Light floral and ripe dark fruity undertones. The flavour is near medium sweet and light bitter with a super malt profile - boatload of caramel and chocolate. The mouthfeel is round, smooth and light sticky with a light to medium carbonation. Caramelly and light fruity finish. Near full bodied.

Originally rated on 20.3.2009. 330ml bottle from Alko Arkadia. Sweet and slightly boozy, but otherwise quite well balanced and tasty imperial stout. 8-4-8-3-15 = 3.8
Re-rated on 11.6.2010. Taste is much more balanced after some aging. Great beer.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 2013
Sweetish aroma has roasted malt, some metal and hints of cocoa powder. Flavour is somewhat tart and acidic with some roasted malt, cocoa and lactic acid. Dry and tart finish. Rather oily palate. The sweetness does not disturb like it did two years ago, but the acidic tartness does disturb a bit. Most likely this was a bad bottle.

courtesy of oh6gdx - dark black in colour and with a little dark beige foam left; gently roasted aroma of pralines and licorice; full-bodied and very sweet; long sweetish chocolatey aftertaste with light notes of vanilla - nice dessert beer indeed

330 ml bottle. Rated @ 22.3.2009.
Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate, sweet malts and caramel. Flavour of sweet malts, mild coffee, licorice and (unfortunately) vegetables. Medium bodied with oily mouthfeel. This could’ve been something great.

esox (742) - Oulu, FINLAND - AUG 14, 2010
Black beer with nice creamy head. Intenense, sweet aroma of berries and dark ripes. Gently coffeyish and roasted in the finish. A hint of herbal hops and alcohol too. Sweet malty flavor with balancing saltiness of licorice. Sweet flavor hides the alcohol completely. Surprisingly low fluid and slippery palate, velvety and low carbonated. Good stuff.

3rd June 2010 - Brasserie 4:20. Bottle - thanks to Alex! Black stout, creamy brown head. Light soft frothy palate. Very sweet (it does say Dessert!). A little chocolatey but with a fair amount of forest fruits as well. Creamy tones and a little coca cola in there as well. A Dessert Stout. Does what it says on the tin - loved it!

Bottle at 4:20 at RBESG Rome. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is very sweet, soy, ripe fruits, light tart roasted maltiness. Flavour is very fruity, strawberry, sweet, raspberries, vanilla, sugar, sweet sugary light coffee bitter finish. Medium to fullbodied. Way too sweet imo.

330 ml bottle. Black body, tan head. Roasted, dark fruits and some berries in aroma. Flavour has lots of fruits. Somehow I get a little belgian yeast in taste. This being 6th beer on tasting might have to do something with it.
