COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huvila Joutsen is an easygoing ale of a pale golden complexion. The beer’s aroma reminds of toffee and flowery hops. It is very smooth in taste and reminds of bread and hints of honey. It has a REALLY soft finish. The quaffer of choice for warm days! It is available in selected shops, bars and restaurants all over Finland. It is also possible to visit the Malmgård brewery and buy Huvila Joutsen on site. Since 2011, Huvila Joutsen is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2007 Draught
A bit hazy blonde golden color. Small white head. Interesting floral, hoppy, yeasty aroma. Light, slightly sour, dry mouthfeel with mild hops and wood. (6/2/5/2/9 2.4)
Bottled
Clear golden color, steady small white head. Aroma has barley and honey. Medium-bodied. Malty with honey sweetness. Maybe not the most enjoyable but well-made honey beer, some similarities to Sinebrychof Kaura. (6/2/6/2/10 2.6)

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2006 (Bottled) Hazy yellow-golden color with a medium, creamy head. Lightly acidic, grassy-hoppy aroma with some sweet fruitiness and metal hints. At first, the aroma reminded me of Schwaben Bräu, but after a while the aroma surprisingly changes into red-curranty (Kuohu-style), with even some Belgian-style yeastiness. Interesting, although the aroma is not very strong at any point. Smooth, neutral maltiness with some honey in the sourish flavor. Some bitterness, but even more red currants and raspberry stones in the finish. Light to medium-bodied, sourish and slightly rough palate with soft but high carbonation. A very subtle, quite drinkable ale with a similar "red currant disease" than in the Mallaskoski brews. I’d really like to know what causes that... (Draught, rated Aug 20, 2004, was 3-3-6-3-11=2.6) Light amber color with almost no head. Very mild aroma. Quite sweet and malty and aromatic-hopped flavor with a bittersweet finish. Medium-bodied, oily and slicky, low-carbonated palate. A decent, hoppy brew, but not very interesting.

Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 18, 2004
Clear golden colour. Abnormally fluffy head. Fruity aroma (pear, berry) with slight pale malt notes. Very sweet palate, quite fruity with peachy, canned pear notes. Different because it’s so sweet, but it seems to work on some level. It’s only slightly sugary.

Sampled draught at Helsinki Beer Festival.
Golden colour with a slight haze. Light grassy, orangey nose. Rather sweet andlight bodied with soapy mouthfeel. Fruity and with very fresh, soft mouthfeel. Low bitterness.
