3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks to oh6gdx for a solid taster at EBF 08. Deep and shining black body with a small skinny layer of foam. Smell of dark dried fruits with notes of prunes coming through. Dark, malt-covered chocolate sweetness supported by a touch of vanilla, partial contrasted by decent notes of slightly, bitter coffee beans. Hints of alcohol on the tongue (13.09.2008).

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had this at the European Beer Festival Kobenhaven 13-09-08 Poured dark brown, breaking away at the edges, no head to speak of. Bourbon really showed straight away on this beer, plenty of vanilla and dark fruits also. Too much sweetness for me and it sat a little too heavily, despite this I seem to still rather like this.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ EBF. Black, small foamy beige head. Strong oaky, vanilla aroma. Flavor is vanilla, sweeter vanilla, little liquorice and alcohol. Over sweet and simple, alcohol shows clearly. A good sipper though.

EBF 08, Copenhagen. Black with a little bit of tan head. Nose is chocolatey and espresso. Mouth is sharply different, sweet, chocolatey, full and long. Evidence of some aging comes through. Very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at EBF, Copenhagen.
Lovely coffee aroma. Sweet, dried fruit, full mouth feel. A bit too sweet for my liking, which drags it down. Warming alcohol. Give me a hoppy version of this!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2008 Bottled at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of vanilla oak and tar. Fairly sweet, soft and gentle, yet powerful. The barrel flavour is evident, but not too overpowering. The slightest stickyness separates it from perfection. Despite the fierce competition at EBF this clinches one of the top spots.

[thank you, oh6gdx]
Pours black with a small, creamy, film head. Aroma is powerfully roasted, light chocolate and coffee notes. Fine mouthfeel, good creaminess and perfect carbonation. Flavour is really nice, pleasantly sweet, some hops and roasted malts to balance it. Finish has good chocolate and coffee.
