(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of oh6gdx. Pours black and opaque with no head at all. Fat sweetish bourbon aroma. Full-bodied with no carbonation, but very sweet almost candy-like black malts. Notes of sweet vanilla and bourbon. Almost no bitterness. A pleasant beer that could need a little hops for balance. 120908
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 16, 2008
Bottled (Thanks to MarkkuAtHuvila for bringing a few bottles to be shared). Reddish amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is oak, mild alcohol, some slight vanilla and nuttyness along with slight roasted hints. Flavour is smooth roasted malts with some alcohol, raisins and mild hints of oakbarrels. The barrelaging really took away some of the stingy alcohol sweetness from the Dessert Stout.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 omhper (17472) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 20, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2008 Bottled at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of vanilla oak and tar. Fairly sweet, soft and gentle, yet powerful. The barrel flavour is evident, but not too overpowering. The slightest stickyness separates it from perfection. Despite the fierce competition at EBF this clinches one of the top spots.
