mrdasilva (120) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 6, 2005
Almost black slightly reddish color. The aroma is quite sweet and fruity, but lame. The flavor is sweet, slightly bitter, thinly burnt and has a bitter ending. A pretty good basic porter.

Draught. Black opaque, small brown head. Roasted malt along with toffeeish and caramellish hints. Roasted malt and semibitterish malty hints along with hops. Sticky palate and bitterish aftertaste.

Very dark. Barnyard smell. Little foam and a nice soft taste. Feels a bit oily.

Draft: Let’s do it backwards for once. The palate says: More please. This porter deserved it’s medal at the Helsinki Beer Festival. It has a wonderful, roasted flavor with hints of chocolate. Yummy.

Smells like sweat. Full bodied. A bit of soap to. (Sweat AND soap?) Burnt rubber.4/4/4/5/10 2.7
RERATE:
Keg @ Helsinki Beer Festival, Helsinki Finland Backlog 1 April, 2005
Voted silver beer of the festival. Very interresting clean aroma. Barrel characteristics and a touch of rum chocolate and orange chocolate in taste. A complex and absolutely great beer. My personal favourite Finnish beer of the festival.

jutuahol (189) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - SEP 2, 2004
Black, small head. Roasted, coffee, sweet nose with notes of toffee and chocolat. Medium body. Roasted, coffee, toffee and chocolaty flavor. Nice porter.

TBone (12544) - Pori, FINLAND - AUG 22, 2004
Draught
Opaque black, small but steady tanned head. Coffee, roasted, chocolaty nose. Hoppy, roasted medium-bodied brew but lacks malty backbone: typical to Huvila beers. Dry, woody aftertaste.

Oakes (12361) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 18, 2004
Red-tinged brown. Through the brewery says the sun will make it appear a traffic-light red. Smokey, coffeeish and very nutty aroma. Slightly dusty as well. soft and sweet body with cream, slight caramel, coffee notes. Smooth, sweet finish. Very clean, subtle.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2006 (Draught, re-rate@SOPP-Hki-2006, 6-4-7-3-13=3.3) Almost black with no head. Roasty, sweet-sour, licoricey. Watery palate, probably served too cold and not at its best. At least I hope so, as this used to be a very good porter! I’ll average the scores until another re-rate. (Draught@St.Urho’s Pub, Helsinki Feb 27, 2004. Was 7-4-8-4-14=3.7) Almost black color, slightly red. Quite sour aroma, and a bit sweet. Sweetish, sour flavor, slightly alcoholic. A very enjoyable brew, and the best Finnish porter I’ve had.

omhper (19322) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - APR 1, 2003
UPDATED: APR 10, 2003 Sampled draught at Helsinki Beer Festival.
Transparently black with off white head. Citrusy hoppy nose. Very chocolatey with loads of coffee. Dry with clean malt profile and a bitter licorice finish. A truly excellent classic porter!
