The Huvila X-Porter has a deep black appearance with a brown head. Creamy, slightly nutty, smooth chocolate malt nose. The taste is similar to its nose but also allows the taste of toffee to come through. The after taste then turns more chocolate with toffee. This is a rarity as not many top-fermented Baltic Porters are made any more. Our “hero” at the San Diego Int’l Beer Festival 2010! It is available on tap and in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Since 2011, Huvila X-Porter is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar. Last, but not least, Huvila X-Porter is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers.

Pours almost black with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is nutty chocolate as advertised and the taste is roasty and earthy, and very sweet. Leaves a delicious dark chocolate and yeasty aftertaste. Body is surprisingly light with an oily texture, I found it very peculiar. Nice lacing. Very enjoyable porter that reminds me of a barley wine.

15.3.2014. Black beer with thick brown head. Roasted, syrupy malts, slight coffee and liquorice. Taste has similar elements: syrupy malts, slight roastness, some pines, and hops and chocolate towards finish. Also some liquorice. Full bodied, soft. Complex, excellent porter. Due to sweetness, good for dessert.

Bottle as a gift from Helsinki. BB ? Pours dark brown while appearing black with a glare of ruby in the glass. Head is creamy beige (not brown) with good retention and lacing. The aroma is surprisingly weak, I get some roastiness and faint chocolaty notes, some dark fruits as well. It tastes sweet with a lot of bitterness, and a very faint hint of some sour notes. Chocolaty. Citrusy. Kind of like dark chocolate with oranges. Body above average, carbonation very thin and weak, palate soft but with certain graininess. It finishes dry and somewhat ashy. Alcohol nicely hidden. Not as good as expected, but still rather enjoyable.

500 ml bottle from bier-deluxe.de, cellared several months.
Dark brown body, with a massive, frothy, rocky, lacing, dark beige head.
Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, toast, liquorice, dark fruits.
Taste follows this, with additional ash and smoke notes and some cocoa powder.
Quite light mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, roasty, smoky, quite dry.

Nice one. Very strong tasting, but a bit one-dimensional in my opinion. Almost all about the dry roasty aromas, which aren’t bad though. The mouthfeel is a bit boring. But overall still enjoyable.

Really dark brown coloured beer with beige head which last quite long. Nice lacing sticks to the sides of the glass. Aroma has lots of chocolate sweetness, coffee and of course roasted malts. Taste has some dry roasted malts, then sweet chocolate and some syrup. Coffee is there in between. Full body and medium carbonation. Well, what can you say, great baltic porter with flavours in balance.

0.5 bottle. Very dark brown color and a large, brownish head of good retention but no lacing. Aroma of dark malts, toast, and a subtle coffee - that about covers it. Taste is very malty, quite a lot of roast, some smoke, dried fruits, and a very delicate chocolate. Medium body, slick or even thin texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is medium long and much bitterer than the rest. Overall it is an alright beer though its texture completely spoils the experience; easily overcomes simple lagers but not a prime example of its style for sure.

Bottle: Black with a ruby sheen, stable creamy tanned head; moderate sweet-bitter nose of dried fruits, roasted malt, vanilla and Wood; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, smooth and medium bodied; lingering dryish bitter-toasty finish, Wood, vanilla and dried fruits - again - included. Very pleasant...

Aromaty palone i kawowe, bombonierkowe, delikatnie kartonowe w tle. Aromat chmieli amerykańskich, wyraźna zalegająca goryczka, odrobinę kwaskowe. Alkohol niewyczuwalny.
