The Huvila X-Porter has a deep black appearance with a brown head. Creamy, slightly nutty, smooth chocolate malt nose. The taste is similar to its nose but also allows the taste of toffee to come through. The after taste then turns more chocolate with toffee. This is a rarity as not many top-fermented Baltic Porters are made any more. Our “hero” at the San Diego Int’l Beer Festival 2010! It is available on tap and in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Since 2011, Huvila X-Porter is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar. Last, but not least, Huvila X-Porter is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers.

Non seethrough dark brown. Smells of warm round coffee, bitter dark chocolate. Taste follows up with the nice round coffee and some nice burnt flavours. A porter to my liking, not too sweet, well balanced ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is not very complex: mainly aroma of pumpernickel bread with some fruity notes. Taste of roasted malts, pumpernickel and more fruity than the aroma. Medium, soft carbonation, quite sweet finish. Not a bad beer, but in comparision to stronger baltic porters (>20 Plato) is not as good.

500 ml bottle. Earthy aroma, dark dried berries. Lovely sweet / bitter taste, it begins with sweet plums, figs, raisins and goes into chocolate, coffee, and tobacco. Very smooth and creamy taste. Well-balanced flavors.

Bottle. Dark brown close to black with a reddish hue and a large tan head. Nose has roasted malt, light dust and fruity notes. Flavour is dominated by roasted malt, coffee, nuts, light brown sugar, dark dried fruits, vanilla. Medium body, lively but pleasant carbonation, some sweetness, subtile acidic, balanced bitterness. Pretty straight forward and drinks well with no rough edges.

Nothing fancy here, yet quite smooth and well balanced brew. Lovely roasted malt background, decent coffee impact, choco, light licorice, some light citrusy fruitiness lingering around, vanilla. Moderate sweet with moderate bitterness. Feels quite smooth. Lovely brew.

15.3.2014. Black beer with thick brown head. Roasted, syrupy malts, slight coffee and liquorice. Taste has similar elements: syrupy malts, slight roastness, some pines, and hops and chocolate towards finish. Also some liquorice. Full bodied, soft. Complex, excellent porter. Due to sweetness, good for dessert.

Bottle as a gift from Helsinki. BB ? Pours dark brown while appearing black with a glare of ruby in the glass. Head is creamy beige (not brown) with good retention and lacing. The aroma is surprisingly weak, I get some roastiness and faint chocolaty notes, some dark fruits as well. It tastes sweet with a lot of bitterness, and a very faint hint of some sour notes. Chocolaty. Citrusy. Kind of like dark chocolate with oranges. Body above average, carbonation very thin and weak, palate soft but with certain graininess. It finishes dry and somewhat ashy. Alcohol nicely hidden. Not as good as expected, but still rather enjoyable.

500 ml bottle from bier-deluxe.de, cellared several months.
Dark brown body, with a massive, frothy, rocky, lacing, dark beige head.
Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, toast, liquorice, dark fruits.
Taste follows this, with additional ash and smoke notes and some cocoa powder.
Quite light mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, roasty, smoky, quite dry.

Nice one. Very strong tasting, but a bit one-dimensional in my opinion. Almost all about the dry roasty aromas, which aren’t bad though. The mouthfeel is a bit boring. But overall still enjoyable.
