Artevelde Grand Cru features a dark red-brown colour, a firm, creamy, and cream-coloured head. The smell of roasted malt, caramel and the sweet fruitiness of the alcohol give this beer the perfect aroma. Caramel, sweet fruitiness and a pleasant bitterness are the predominant flavours. Its aftertaste reveals a pinch of toffee and date. Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops, yeast. Triple fermented.

Bottle, 330 ml, at home. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 7.3%. 1.69€ Very dark magohany brown colour, with some ruby shades when hold against the light. A bit less than two fingers of tan head, with low retention for its most part, but a thin film of foam stays to cover the beer’s surface. No lacing left on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, fruit sugars, some light alcohol. Very nice. Taste is very sweet. with some iron notes. Lots of fruits here, mostly dark ones like plums. Aftertaste is also sweet with mostly the fruit sugars notable. Nice body, medium thick but more carbonation than it was needed. Overall, and although is quite sweet, this one was pleasantly drinkable.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark amber to brown colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Slightly sugary toast-malty aroma with notes of dark and red berries, also hints of alcohol. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty malt-character with notes of candy sugar, berry fruits and a tinge of caramel; sweet and fruity finish with a mildly spicy and alcoholic touch. 21.II.13

Rich malt aroma with a strong hint of sour fruit, perhaps blackberries. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown with ruby hints. Solid, long lasting tan head. Flavour is slightly disappointing after the aroma but still good. Malty with firm bittering and a touch of sour and funkiness.
