3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle conditioned, 330ml from Marche de Natalie, Bouillon, Belgium, aged 3yrs. Opaque dark brown with fizzy head. Explosive type of pour, very lively. A heavyish, winey type beer, a little sweet with a black wine gum type flavour. Some molasses and spice and heady alcohol. It’s fine but nothing Grand Cru about it.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A clear dark brown with ruby hues, with a thick light moka head, and floaties. A light sweet aroma of dates, oranges, ginger, and candy sugar. In mouth, a lightish sweet candy sugar, wit light ginger and tangerines, light coriander, and warming alcohol. Medium bodied, light for the style. Not bad. Bieropholie import.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle (S. Brevinga Alus Salons, Riga) - Rating #5000
6 Full sweet fruity aroma, dark and sticky.
4 Dark reddy brown, huge beige light head.
6+ Sweet and fruity. The fruitiness tends towards slightly soured dark fruits, maybe figs, but we can’t 100% place it. Purple grapes too. Very sweet.
3 Sticky sweet palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish is sweet and a touch sickly.
13 Huyghe doing what they do very consistently - solid strong sweet belgian ales. Maybe not the best beer in the world nor the worst beer in the world for my #5000, but the experience of being in the new Brevinga bar and shop made this special - thanks, Mr bar-owner, for the Artevelde glass as a congratulatory gift on reaching this milestone! Cheers!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
End-of-scale dark amber ale with yellow-brown, creamy head. Very fruity, grapey nose, some alcohol and a lot of fusels. Fusels again, as well as sweet licorice in the taste. Fruity, but in a less natural sense of the word. Vinous in the first instant, again in the aftertaste. Warming up, some bitterish roasted/ near-coffee-like notes. Quite well bodied, obvious alcohol (it IS Huyghe), creamy texture. Nowhere bad, but somehow, one would be tempted to expect a little more complexity...
