COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Artevelde Grand Cru features a dark red-brown colour, a firm, creamy, and cream-coloured head. The smell of roasted malt, caramel and the sweet fruitiness of the alcohol give this beer the perfect aroma. Caramel, sweet fruitiness and a pleasant bitterness are the predominant flavours. Its aftertaste reveals a pinch of toffee and date. Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops, yeast. Triple fermented.

2003 Vintage from Sam the Beer Man. Bottled opened with little carbonation, poured out into glass with inch cream colored foam that slowly dissipated, leaving only a thin ring around the glass. Appearance is dark mahogany, murky; the color of water from a rusty pipe. The aroma is red sauce (canned tomato paste) and candi sugar, although both are not intense, perhaps because of it’s age. When taken the beverage is warm in the mouth, tasting sweetness from candi, a bit of coriander spice and toasted caramel malt. Aftertaste is dark fruit—cherries noted from the top, and definitely the pit of plum as it washes down. Both alcohol and musty yeast are present in the taste, however for it’s strength that alcohol taste is surprising; the blood-like “must” seems to be common to the Family Huyghe Brouwerij (Delirium Noel). Enjoyed in Goblet. On a side note, watch out for Boise State Broncos in ’07!

caramel, fruit and nuts, a hazy browny-red body with no head, it tastes like it smells with a bitter edge to stop it being too creamy. this is a very good beer.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Nez amande et malt. Acide au palais. Peu corpulente, alcool sous-dosé. Pas terrible.

Bottled, 330 ml. Hazy mahogany colour, creamy tan head with average duration. Yeasty nose. Tart, vineous aroma escorted by bread, caramel and apples underpainted by hints of chocolate, creamy, slick mouthffeel. Medium to long warming, tart finish with citrusses and toasted malt. Liked it.

APPEARANCE: deep amber color and clear. large ivory head with good retention. TASTE: leathery flavours mixed with some sweet and caramelly notes. low bitterness and a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-low body with high carbonation. OVERALL: a belgian strong ale with oxidated aromas and flavours.

Bottle from Le Chai d’Anthon, Vitre, Brittany, France. This hazy dark brown beer explodes out of the bottle and pours with a large foamy white head. It has a slight sour red fruity flavour, notes of toffee apple and currants with a warming spicy vinous finish.

Ez meglepetés volt, mert valami egyszerűbbre számítottam. Még kell kósolni belőle, de határozottan klassz erős ale sör volt.

turbothy (1130) - Bonn, GERMANY - SEP 26, 2014
Pours dark brown with a reddish tinge. Head is big and foamy but fairly quickly collapses to a dense, uneven foam layer. Aroma is sweet raisins. Flavour is malty, raisiny and sweet, a bit watery but improving in depth and texture as the beer warms up a bit. Not bad, but not the best Belgian out there either.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Gushes a little on opening. Pours a dark mahogany brown with vibrant off-white head. Aroma is leather and sour fruits. Taste is tart, over-ripe soft dark fruits & some sour oud bruin notes. Interesting.
