2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
[Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading] Brown with a thick off-white head. Thereís a hint of choclate, a little woodiness and some faint roast malts, but itís predominantly thin, watery and tatseless. One can imagine that this is the sort of mild that became famous as the post-work restorative that miners used to fill up on - you could drink many pints of this very fast without it touching the sides!

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask at Penderelís Oak, JDW, London. Pours clear brown with a creamy, light tan head. Nut much in the way of aroma, perhaps some faint fruit and nuts. Faintly sweet flavor, some semi-dark fruits, light rubber. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild sweet finish, faint fruits. Very bland. Not impressed; this is pretty weak.
