2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Ughsmash (6670) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 23, 2012GNBF. Poured cloudy brown with a well-retained khaki head. The aroma picked up smoked, sweet milk chocolate paired with vegetal notes.. on the poor end of "OK". The flavor was sour and funky with harsh medicinal notes throughout.. some sweet smoked malt beneath. Medium-bodied and slick on the palate.. sour, funky, and tart, and I don’t think they intended any of those things.

On tap at Hydro Street Brewpub. Murky muddy brown with a thin tan head that slowly fades away. Aroma of smoke, roasted malts, chocolate and mild spice. Taste of smoked sweet malts, light cocoa and a mild off-flavor.

On draught at the Hydro Street brewpub in downtown Columbus, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear dark brown colored brew with an average sized light beige head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and spotty lacing. Aroma of lightly smoked chocolate malt, a hint of grassy hops and a touch of coffee. Taste is light to medium bodied, flavors of toasted dark malt, a hint of coffee and light smoked wood. Finish is a touch light, low carbonation, some mild bitterness.

On tap at the brew pub. Nice porter with a nice mix of smoke and a bit of roast. This waas nice for me as the smoke was not over the top.

I’m glad the campfire part was not your typical burned down the house smokey flavor - just a hint, not a smack in the face. Too bad the place ran out of beer - logistic problems with opening a new brewery and havign to wait for inspections before brewing.

Deep brown/black. Big roast/patent malt, coffee, ash, and a little smokiness in the nose. Solid on the roast malt, coffee, ash, burnt biscuit, light caramel malt. Just a tad thin and under-carbonated, but pretty good for a roast-centric porter. Lots of residual coffee, roast, ash.
