5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bottle at Stumbling Monk: Amberish in color, slightly fiery, visible sediment floats about, large foamy off-white head, good
retention, decent lacing.   Looks great!   Resiny nose, pine, hops, some powdery sugar like notes.   This could be a Double IPA.
After one taste I would think this is a Double IPA.   Not enough malts for a Barley Wine.   Still fairly tasty though.
Finishes fairly clean, lingering powdery sugar like flavors.   Pine and hops throughout.   Better than I expected, if a little more
of a IIPA.   Surprised to find this in Seattle.
after4ever (1751), Brier, Washington, USA Sep 25, 2008 12-oz at The Stumbling Monk. Thanks, Nugget! Pours a bright murky golden (if that makes any sense) under a thick, creamy, moussy tan head. Enormous brown bread and sweet yeast nose, really tons of cereal sugars knocking around in here. Creamy, thick body. Toffee, butterscotch, and caramel on the mid-palate, with some piney/resiny notes tying off the finish. I would probably go hoppier and set this up to have more tobacco and leather left from the hops when they’re done, ’cause there’s just a zoo of unfermented sugar in here for the yeast to work on. It’s a tidy BW, just so insanely malty, biscuity, and bready. riversideAK (1630), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber amber with a pretty decent fluffy head. Aromas of sweet toasty malts and floral and grapefruit hops. I don’t know how old this one is, but the hops here are rather strong for the style. Lots of grapefruit and floral notes in the flavor with a good dose of bitterness as well as toasty bready sweetness as balance. This drank very well for the ABV too. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 3, 2008 12oz bottle. Slightly cloudy amber with big head. Really smooth with big kick of grapefruit hops and sweet malt. Fantastic balance and the hops just pop out. Not overly bitter. Love it. Light for 9.3%. SuzyGreenberg (1028), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 23, 2008 12 oz. bottle - picked up at the stumbling monk; copper with slight haze and lots of carbonation; white head fades but leaves some lacing; aromas of hops, sugar and alcohol; drinks crisp to a dry finish; malty backbone and not as much hops flavor given the aromas
