I used to pound the living daylights outta these in my younger days so for nostalgias sake I’ve decide to sample one for a review. After cracking a can and pouring into a pint glass I get an eyefull of this golden nectar. Smells of corn/malt. Taste is sweet with a decent bite. The mouthfeel is very basic beer standard. Goes in goes down. Nothing to get upset over. Overall it was a standard for my roomate in college so I crushed my fair share. I can still see havin a few now. There’s worse beer out there.

I bought this one once by accident, and have regretted it ever since. I guess 7-11 has to stock something, though.

24 fl oz can. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is light acidic malty and slight cornish. Cornish and mild acidic flavoured. Bitter and metallic finish.

Serve it cold enough and it hides the taste. It’s just another swill being passed off as something it isn’t. At least it is cheap, drinkable, and widely available but I don’t recommend it if something (anything!) better is available.

Can. A golden beer with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with some weird note of vitamins as well as light notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of brewing syrup as well as faint notes of malt, and hops, leading to a lightly bitter finish. Can’t really offend you for anything else than being so boring.

12 oz. can. Always seemed to be at college parties- you get what you pay for. Large fizzy head, super light pour. Bad, even for something this cheap. Avoid this unless you’re desperate and there is literally nothing else on the shelf.

Bottle. Tried this on a dare, and too get some good Cape red. Somewhat pleasant aroma that turns into a sour mess. Ghastly metallic flavour, that reminds me of the taste of a rifle cartridge. Very little finish and what was there was blah.

Foamy head, and a pretty nasty aroma that starts out being deceptively pleasant. This is a pretty typical pale lager, maybe a little sweeter than average. I can taste the corn, that is for sure. This beer conjures up images of the fluorescently lit 7-11 store off the highway in Virginia where I bought it. Somebody should start a campaign to get those stores to start selling some decent beverages. The iced tea that I got there was horrible. I would take Icehouse over Peak Gold iced tea anytime.
