Pours deep brown with slight red edges. A big, creamy, off-white/beige head. Aroma is sweet, lightly roasted malts, some toffee, good woodiness and light tartness. Fine, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely softly tart, good caramel, some light chocolate and roasted malts. Lots of dry, tart wood in the aftertaste - very dry. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA

Aromas of cherries, wood and some funkiness. Flavors of oak, wood and some sour notes. Most distinct are the cheryy notes that linger on the palate. I enjoyed this beer probably because it is not so overly sour. beerguy101 (3872), Newark, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2008 This sour ale pours a deep red color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is tart cherry, some wood and some malts. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Its more tart and tannic tasting than fruity and tart. It has that malt and wood of a Rodenbach, but not the fruity tart flavors. Nice carbonation. Very enjoyable drinking beer. Some vinous woody flavors at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Theis (3698), Denmark

Malty, sweetness, brown sugar, carpenter-glue, light sourish, woody, tar, red berries. Very nice. IrishBoy (2706), Bakersfield, California, USA

Is this really a "SOUR" ale? rayg1 (437), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2008 Pours out a dark ruby red. Aroma is very nice with tart cherries and oak meeting the nose with a touch of vanilla at the end. The aroma really is awesome and I found it to be the best part about the beer. The taste is slightly sour and not nearly as much as the aroma would let you believe. This beer takes a more subtle approach and focuses more on the malts, cherries, and oak aging rather than the sour for the focus of the flavor. Sourheads will be very disappointed in this one. Even I found myself slightly upset when the flavor of the beer didn’t deliver anything near the wonderful level of flavor that was presented in the aroma. vyvvy (2034), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2008 Pours dark garnet with a fizzy tan head. The aroma has gentle sourness, dark cherry, prevalent malt, oak, milkiness, cream and vanilla. Medium smooth body with some minor soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with a creamy & sour blend that is not biting like many of the style. There is more malt noticeable than the norm as well along with dark berries and vanilla. The finish is short with a good deal of oak. Decent sour ale. cmillward (430), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2008 Bottle @ redlight redlight. Pours a red-tinged amber with a faint head that fades quickly. Subdued nose, mild tart, some vanilla, hints of sweet malt. Very smooth and slick, with a malty sweet edge leading to a mild tartness. Hints of acetic. Light sourness, cherries?, and oak. Decent Flemish red, seemed a little dialed back, but still enjoyable.
