Bottle from Brewers Haven. This my kind of sour, not overly puckering, perhaps tempered by the barrel aging. Some mellow wooden notes are added as a result. A murky ruby brown pour, soft tightly beaded head, acetic plum aroma. Taste is initially tart, mellowing quickly to a dry, sweet finish. Excellent all around.

This beer pours brownish red with full head. A flavor of sour apple and cherry bland with earthy flavor to make a ry good sour beer.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a chalice. Pours a clear dark ruby with a modest tan head that lingers before dissipating. Big aromas of cherry, apple and yeast with a bit of barnyard funk. Taste is very sour cherry forward with some apple and currant on the finish. The beer itself is not really sour per sea but it does have a light tartness that cuts into the overall sweet palate. It is reminiscent of a less sour version of Duchesse de Bourgogne. Full body with nice carbonation and a slightly sticky cola-like mouthfeel. Nice lingering finish that coats the palate. This is were the tartness stands out...especially as it warms up.

Bottle at home. Actually, two bottles, one is older than the other on a back-to-back tasting. Pours a deep, dark red colour with a small head. Any sediment in the bottle has compacted well, so the beer is very clear. The aroma is more like a wine, with red fruits on the nose, particularly cherry and currant. The older bottle was much more vinous and sour, almost lactic. On the tongue the beer is sweet, then really very dry. Again, in the older sample the sweetness had almost gone. On the palate, more fruit, like stewed prunes, rich grain and a nice underlying sourness that enhances the fruit. Quite a sticky beer, rich palate, but nonetheless the younger version is oddly thirst-quenching. An interesting beer, well away from the mainstream and one to return to as the depth of flavour is excellent.

750ml bottle. Clear ruby red. Vinegar in the aroma. The flavor starts sweet, then becomes sour, red apples dominate, raspberry, honey, oak barrels. A nice experience where flavors stay long.

Clear red-brown beer with a thin head. Nose: Tart, cherry, oak, red apple, vinegar and pear. Taste: Cerry, tart, oak, sourness, sweet apple, grape, blackberries and bread. Body: Medium body with a crisp carbonation. Pretty sweet but the sourness balance the beer. Very good Grand Cru from Ichtegems with complex, balanced taste. A little to sweet for me. I think I put my remaining bottle on hold for a few years and let it mature :)
