Purchased at Binny’s, May 2010. Everyone’s hosting sour beer events in advance of FoBAB, so I’m having one, too. With a soft French triple cream brie. Opened carefully since so many of my re-fermented beers have gushered, I instead get a happy "psssht!" and a deep, reddish-brown pours with a short, bubbly head. Smell is a little light in sourness. Probably a good thing, because my mind reaches to recall dirty gym towels for comparison. Luckily the taste helps drive that impression away. The usual tartness of sour cherries, but not very strong. Goes great with the last rinds of my cheese. In fact, after a bite of cheese, the beer seems sweeter. Alcohol is present, and of course it’s a little gassy. With all the strong flavors here, I can’t decided I taste the oak or not. I’ll just say being in a barrel gave it its own population of bugs for sourness.

Draft. Aroma of apples, plums and apricots. Nice ruby body. Flavor is wood, crisp leaves and light sour tone. Body is very light and almost flat.

On tap at Popeye’s. Ichtegem grand cru 5.5% A deep plum red-brown with a pungent red-wine like cork fruity nose. Like sangria. The taste is fruity plum and sugared malts sweet but tart. Very nice.

Alcohol bien escondido.

Bottle bbe 04/03/2019. Nice dark red color, very clear. Aroma: cream caramel, hints of vanilla. Taste: goes with the aroma together with soft sourness and creaminess. Nicely balanced and drinkable red! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Nice cherry, wine and oaky notes in the aroma with bit of sourness. In taste low fruity sweetness upfront with sour finish. Low to medium body, high carbonation. Nice.

Bottle @ home. Ramata, limpida, riflessi rubino schiuma beige fine e persistente. Poco corposa quasi nessuna carbonatazione. Spigolosa ma piena. Abbastanza equilibrata piuttosto armonica

Bottle 33cl. Red/brown with an off white head. A bit sour nose. Sour taste with some sweet malt. Rather short finish. Not my kind of beer.

Robe rouge, belle mousse. Nez sur les fruits rouges acidulés, une note boisée, et acidulée. Bouche à la belle attaque acidulée et fruitée, le boisé est bien intégré et la finale équilibrée. Un belle bière nettement supérieure à la cuvée de base.

pouring a deep reddish amber in a snifter glass this brew on tap at the Firkin has all the qualities expected of a great sour. The sour fruit notes on the nose with hints of floral and barnyard followed by sour cherries, raspberries, blackberries and honey. Yum. Great mouth feel of tiny champagne bubbles coating the tongue make new want another. ...But it’s just a one sour nite.
