3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beastiefan2k (2079) - Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA - APR 20, 2008UPDATED: JAN 6, 2009 750mL cork&wire bottle from tytoanderso poured into a Rodenbach GC smaller tulip glass.. The pour is a dark ruby-red color with a small but strong head. Aroma is metallic cherry with no sweetness. Taste is similar but a very fine thirst quencher. It misses the sour and acidity one would naturally look for from this style but the creation is an nice drinking beer with the "spirit" of sourness. 7/3/7/3/14
Re-rate: Had to give this another shot on tap at the Diamond. It is very different than the bottle, starting with the appearance. It has a thick off-white head that never fully fades, just ends up covering the surface. It sits on top of a dark burgundy body. A; has strong aceto coming through with sweet cherry, and a light, earthy balsamic vinegar. Taste is very light cherry juice with some oily,, light aceto characteristics. Its is very easy to drink and took me back to my Belgian trip where I loved all the underrated Flanders Reds on a daily basis. 9/4/7/3/16.
Final comments: was much better on tap, a lot more sour characteristics, particular in the bountiful nose. Seems like the tap is the less industrial version.

0.33l bottle from Barley Wine @ Hotel Room in Copenhagen. This is a really deep dark brown with a little bit of red in it, and it has a heavy lacing good looking beige top. Lots of aromas here, really tart and vinous. Loads of sour red berries with wood and gooseberries. Not bad at all. It feel a bit thin on the mouthfeel this, was expecting something g else and the carbonation level is about average. It’s a sour Flemish ale alright, but far from the best I’ve had. Red sour berries, a sweetness underneath and the oak is really shining through. Slightly warming finish down the throat. Not a big favorite, but some good flavors. 04.05.2013

Poured from a bottle into fluted snifter. Appearance is a very dark reddish brown with an airy off white head, almost tan. Aroma is very tart with sweet cherries and faint oak finish. Taste is a lot of sugar/sweet up front that gets supported by the tartness. Mild bitterness on the middle of the tongue, high carbonation, and a relatively dry and quick finish.

Ruby pour with a foamy tan head.
Aroma is sharp sour cherry and light oak.
Sharp acidic cherry tartness in the flavour. Not too sour though. Light woody oak. Nice light tart finish.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Mörkt rubinröd med livligt högt skum. Markerad sötma, jäst och druvor i doft. Sötma går igen i smak där den möter citrusig syra. Sträv eftersmak.

Absolutely refreshing aroma and mouthfeel. Yet very complex and long lingering carbonated fizzing aftertaste. I need to try more in this style
