2015-01-03, draught at the brewery, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Black color. Aroma of chocolate and coconut. The flavor is dominated by the chocolate and coconut, rich but not sweet, with bold bitterness; roasted nuts in the final.
Another very clean and interesting beer from Icicle.

2015-01-03, draught at Happy’s Market, Ellensburg, WA, 7-4-7-4-15=37
The color is almost black. A lot of real chocolate, but in beer it tends to get a cheap turn, moderately sweet, smooth.
Very good.

On tap @ Waddell’s, our third brewpub stop on TvM’s Bachelor Party NW Ale Trail Expedition. Guest tap. Dark brown with golden Amber highlights. Aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, and vague coconut. Flavour is the same, but lacking body. The more I sipped of this, the less it appealed to me, kind of fake tasting like a Starbucks syrup but less sweet. Just ok to me.

22oz bottle shared by Andrew at tasting. This was definitely as advertised, end of flavor and aftertaste came off as rich delicious chocolate cake. On top of that there is no residual sweetness or Southern Tier like over the top sweetness. Its just those chocolate cake flavors without sugar. How did they do this? Artificial flavors?

Bottle pour at Bottle share, thanks Andrew for bringing this one black pour chocolate, coconut aroma and taste, I don’t like coconut but didn’t mind this.

Draft pour at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a small.foam head. It’s always fun when you try a beer with a specific flavor in mind, and it hits it perfectly. This tastes just like German chocolate cake, and lucky for me, I love it. Flavor is chocolate throughout with a big coconut finish. Very tasty dessert beer. Good stuff.

Draught in a flight at the brewpub. By far, the least favorite beer I tried here (I DETEST coconut). Pours a near black color with no head on it. Nose and taste are both filled with coconut to a degree that makes me abhor this beer. There’s a bit of chocolate in there, too, but that is subtler than the coconut. No me gusta.

Big aroma of german chocolate cake. Sweet chocolate dark chocolate a little fruity light roast and earth. Pours dark brown almost black thin tan ring. Flavors of chocolate cake coconut a little roadt and earth. Definitely sweet and rich but not over the top. Cool beer.

Dark brown in color, tan head nice flavors and a super finish. This had a deep chocolate flavor and was terrific.

Had at Icicle Brewing Co. in Leavenworth, WA. Dark robust brown in color with a tan head that lingers. Smells of coffee and coconut with some dark chocolate as well. Tastes the same with big coconut punch for the finish. Really does taste like a german chocolate cake in a beer form. Very interesting. Coconut tasted more like an extract for how prominent it was. Good beer to try, definately couldn’t drink two as it would be a little rich.

This beer is quite good. I believe it is modelled after German Chocolate Cake as it ihas definite chocolate and coconut flavors.
