This traditional German dark ale has a subtle hop aroma and sweet carmel flavor. Ankle Biter Ale™ uses a blend of 5 varieties of malted barley and 3 types of domestic hops. The special blend of barley and hops makes Ankle Biter Ale™ a very light easy drinking ale with very little after taste.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and murky amberish/copper color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of lot sof butter & buttered popcorn. Couldn’t get around that smell. Tastes of less butter (but there) with caramel.

12oz bottle from the three cellars. Cloudy yellowish orange with no head. Light aroma, tangy taste though a little flat. Tough to put my finger on this one though I enjoyed it and would have another.

Is this really retired? I checked the brewery website and it (the site, at least) seems alive & well. Besides advertising a St. Valentine’s Dat party for tomorrow, it tells me that I can buy this beer at the shop where I indeed bought it. Any Wisconsonians out there know for sure?

The body is a pale golden amber and its modest but well sustained head does no lacing. It has an aroma of sweet buttered caramel and dry white bread toast. A touch of apple is added to the flavor, the butter vanishes, and an earthy bitterness is added that tastes somewhat overly soiled in the finish.

Bottle from Three Cellars. This left a bad after taste. Very skunky. I found none of the fruity tastes the other raters did. Noting redeaming here.

On draught at the City Lounge in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Pours a coppery amber brew with a slowly dissolving white head that has a good lacing and texture. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, roasted nuts, and a touch of citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a light pale ale/citrusy flavor. Finish is slightly metalic, semi-dry with a good balance of citrus and caramel malt flavors.

Rated from memory. From the tap at Landmark 1850 in Milwaukee. A pretty good ale, it’s a good session ale.

On tap at the Landmark in Milwaukee WI. Pours a darker amber color with tan head. Aroma of a caramel, sweet malts and some nuttiness. Flavor follows aroma, but adds some hoppiness. Very drinkable and quite good.
