2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 ml bottle. L12241. BB 28/08/2013. From England. Thanks to Jani & Eetu!
Dark reddish brown colour with a small greyish white head.
Caramel sweetness, malt and mild notes of coffee and hops in the aroma.
The flavour is quite dull. There’s sugary sweetness, bready malt, mild bitterness and some notes of chocolate. Thin. Boring but better than the Ljus Lager.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Ambrée foncée, pétillance fine, mousse fine. Caramélisée, légèrement métallique, un peu amère, un rien fruitée mais surtout ratée, d’autant qu’ils se sont sentis obligés d’y ajouter un colorant!

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
33cl bottle. ’Dark Lager Beer".
Appearance: somewhat red brown rather clear beer, with small unstable beige head.
Nose: some rotten fruits, caramel, lots of malts, some other fruits noticeable as well, somewhat sour.
Taste: lots of sugar and malt, but not much besides that. Too sweet for my taste.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
330ml bottle BBD 07 Aug 2013: poured into an ’Augustijn’ badged chalice on a snowy, cold 22 Mar 2013 at home while the wife has her nails painted.
Looked fine: nice reddy brown body with a good, full head of tan coloured foam on top. Looked away and the lovely head had done a runner to be replaced by a wispy covering and a collar.
Rich aroma of plum pudding and Christmas style warmth. Malty notes get stronger as the beer warmed in the glass and the richness faded from the initial Christmassy, plum smells.
The taste wasn’t great from the start, malty but thin and weak, a bit sickly sweet as well. A metallic and coffee feel arrived towards the end of the drink and this didn’t sit well with the sweetness at all. A little too carbonated for me: too fizzy for a decent beer.
