Iki is japanese for life and let you enjoy it. iki beer is a nice, fresh and thirst quenching beer. Brewed with Japanese green tea (Sencha) and Yuzu citrus fruit. The special brew method keeps the healthy aspects of this beer maintained.

Bottle, not really cold enough. On the Thalys from Amsterdam to Paris. Dark gold with a little glow, very spritzy. Green vegetable aroma, not really tea-like. More like cooked cabbage, with some citrus (yuzu?). Flavor is also vegetal, with citrus, wheat malt, some tea I suppose. Nice citrus and pepper finish. OK except for the vegetal edge. Not too much tea flavor in this one.

This is supposed to be "green tea beer", very slick bottle from a very slick high-end supermarket in Paris. Aroma is hops and rice as well as adjuncts and corn. Where is the green tea? Appearance is a bright yellow colour with plenty of head. Taste is smooth, lots of rice, but no distinct flavour. Thereís a very vague green tea flavour as an aftertaste. Soft palate, but rather watery. Itís completely uninteresting, but not awful.

The most elegant beer bottle I have ever encountered. The element of green tea provides that hint of uniqueness to the aroma, but the taste is fine too. One of my favourite beers.

Bottle, Pours a hazy yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is malt and hops with citrus and fruits. The flavor follows the nose with some additional sweetness. The palate is sweet. Overall an average beer.

Was thinking of making a homebrew with tea so had to try this one. 33cl bottle from supermarket. Cloudy yellowish orange, large soapy head. Aroma of citrus, lemonade, sweet orange, mandarin and a faint tea-ishness. Flavour is a nice balanced sweet and bitterness with hops, citrus and sweet orange. Simple but very refreshing. Seems as if the tea gives it a more full palate. Would be an awesome summer session beer if it was a bit cheaper.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 A green tea beer? Must try. Pours a hazy orange body which starts off with thin, smokey snakes slowly settling in the glass; some sort of residue perhaps? Medium creamy head which disappears rather quickly. Smell is lemon peel, hay and dry yeasty aromas. Taste is barnyard yeast, citric tones and a slight undertone of something which is probably green tea, although itís hard to discern properly. Smooth, airy mouthfeel with perhaps a tad bit too much carbonation. Kinda like a wit, but with more funk in it. Tarty and slightly sour aftertaste. Nice enough, and should work well in the sunshine, but not on top of my "to-buy-again-ASAP"-list.

330 ml bottle. From Valkenswaard, the Netherlands.
Hazy pale yellow colour with big white head. Looks like Witbier. Aroma is quite Witbier like too. Citrus, spices, wheat (?), tea and hints of sweetness. Flavour is quite mild with spices, citrus and (probably green?) tea. Not bad but since I donít know anything about green tea (or to be honest about tea) I probably canít get all the great nuances of this great brew. Some caramel sweetness in aftertaste.

A wheat beer tasting like green tea. It really does taste like green tea, alot. The aftertaste is dominated by the taste of green tea. If you love green tea you wil love this beer, but if you hate green tea stay away. Me? Ilike green tea.
