3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6428) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 30, 2011
Tasted as Claustrum/Ottavonano Zenit Whipped eggwhite head, huge, over veiled orange beer; textbook lace. Herbal nose, pale, sweetish malts, bit grassy and aromatic herbs/spices; orange/citrus. Peppery citrus, orangepeel, orangeconcentrate; some restsugars. Retronasal spicy-bitterish. Medium bodied, very slick, even oily; feels well-carbonated. If Claustrum beers display one typical Belgian trait, it’s mouthf’eel - these beers seem to be brewed more to MF, than to taste - typically Belgian. Mille grazie, Gianluca!

Bottle from GBBF, Day 2, August 2009. Hazy golden colour. Attractive spicy Belgian style yeast aroma. Quite fruity on the palate with some volatile, estery notes. A pretty enjoyable, nicely drinkable beer. Unusually straightforward and clean for an Italian.
