Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Jan 1, 2004 Updated: Apr 14, 2008 OK, I have an affinity for Il Vicino because I loved this place when I lived in ABQ (their IPA is among my fondest memories). Unfortunately I hadn’t discovered RateBeer when I lived there. I had the chance to sample this at their STL location and believe this is a perfect beer ... pure amber with an awesome standing head and a great restrained hop aroma and solid mouthfeel. It’s perfectly balanced ... lightly hopped and citricly sweet beer on a light caramel malt beer. Perfect.
Brock_Landers (723), Panama City, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2005 On tap at the Colorado Springs location. In the glass....a nice deep orange-amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruits, piney, light malts. Taste is great....resiny, lotsa bitter pine hop flavor, with more of a malt backbone than anticipated. The rye definitely exerts itself here. Nice full mouthfeel....very tasty.....with a nice dry bitter finish. I like this as much as their Wet Mtn IPA. Volgon (2463), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 16, 2002 On tap GABF 02: Heavy Spruce/resin aroma, oily palate, orange color, starts and ends pretty bitter. I have no idea why they call this IPA a pale ale.
