3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to SJ.
This was better than I expected. Nice orange slight hazey pour. With a nose of mild floral and bread. Taste was a nice hop blended with caramel malts and citrus. Good brew.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2007 Brewed locally, this beer is always fresh and hoppy on draught, unlike the bottled version contract brewed by Bristol in Colorado, which is essentially a completely different beer. Excellent malty backbone followed by a nice hop kick. Like "huffing hops" my friend says. Iíve consumed this beer in various incarnations including regular draft, MELVINized (read: RANDALLized), on cask, MELVINized from a cask (the basis for my ratings scores), bottled (by Bristol) and with different hop profiles. Consistently good regardless and always provides a fresh, well-balanced hop fix with a little something underneath to make it more than just a hop ride. Remarkably drinkable and great with food. A local favorite and New Mexicoís flagship beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Hazy orange body with a short, off-white head. Aroma of grain, grapefruit, pine with notes of grass and caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, slightly syrupy texture and lively carbonation. Taste of grain and resin. In fact, too grainy and rough around the edges.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Light notes of roasted and light bread for the malt, moderate resin and grapefruit peel for the hops, light soap for the yeast, and hints of brown sugar, pepper and a faint berry-like fruitiness. Head is small, between fizzy and frothy, off-white, with, good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy, dark orange/tan. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, and is lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately bitter in the finish. Palate is medium, oily, has a carbonation between soft and lively, and finshes lightly astringent. The resinous smell bumped up the aroma point total in this well crafted IPA.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
bottle. pours a light tan with a grey thin head. aroma is sugary sweet caramel. taste is bitter cardboard with a sticky mouthfeel. seems like a lot of crystal malt in this sucker, or something else that reminds me of it. this is too sweet and sticky for me, it is not enjoyable and a lingering corn taste remains. this is not good, but judging by what i see others thought of it, i might keep an eye out to rerate this if i have a chance.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at the Brewery. An excellent IPA for sipping on while getting a tour of the brewery (Thanks Jeff). Nice amber color with not a lot of head. Lots of hoppy citrus aroma and more in the flavor. Very hoppy and pretty smooth in the finish considering all the hop bitterness in there. Very good.

12 oz bottle from BeerAnd Blues2. Thanks! Clear orange amber with a white head. Pine and grapefruit nose, decent caramel backbone. Grassy bitter flavors, piney and earthy, quite a bit of caramel. Somewhat dry, decent medium body. A damn fine IPA.
