Rating - averaging the top of the bottle with the bottom of the bottle
2l clear glass fliptop bottle (Ilgezeem Market Stall, Riga)
6 Slightly chocolatey aroma, some lacticity.
4 Deep red, small beige head. Served fresh, not intended for warehousing, so not docking a point for the clear bottle.
6 Slightly dirty dusty retronasals. Simple roasty taste, but quite sharp, a bit minerally and watery, almost earthy.
3 Simple thin palate, crispness more through sharpness than carbonation. Finish simple, little length, some papery hops. Some slightly buttery lacticity comes over too.
11 An adequate beer, but lacking a little body perhaps. Absolutely no hint of alcohol, there’s non hint that this isn’t a session beer. Which is good, as we’ve got 2l of it!
Rerate: Same fucking bottle, 2 hours later (we kept it in the fridge for an hour but left it out after we reached the half way point) - (6:4:7:4:13=3.4)
Maybe as it’s warmer, it’s a fuller palate, even got some ginger in the nose, and anna says in the taste too. So much fuller when it warms, and the whole drinking experience is enhanced. But that’s maybe because we’ve had several litres of it.
