Bottle. Copper coloured with a very small head. Mainly a bitterness with a mild grainy aroma and flavour. Not quite as smooth as some best bitter are, but close.

A decent best Yorkshire bitter - looks the part, good bitterness, solid caramel malt backbone, lingering hoppy finish.

Cask (gravity) @ The 18th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2012, Reading, Berkshire England.

Clear medium to dark amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sweet malt, apple - riped apple notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120505]

Bottle, Booths, Penrith. Reasonably powerful hop aroma, the spicy bitterness is immediately apparent on the tongue and back of throat and is the dominating character of the beer. Slight smokiness towards the finish, very much an English brown bitter, but with much more character than a lot of its peers. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Chestnut gold. Thinnish off white foam. Caramel, spice, a little ash and some citrus on the nose. Citric pang on the tongue, without really being fruity. Mostly caramellic tastes, with some spruce resins. Finish is bitter, but again really lacks any particular taste... just bitter. Decent for a session, I guess.

500ml bottle. Caramel malt predominates. Copper colour, subsiding head. Aftertaste rather harsh. Overall: rather unbalanced.

Amber, clear, frothy white head, good lacing
Aroma - light spicy hops, some soft fruity caramel malt, very light aroma
Taste - caramel malts, soft spicy hops, soft earthy hop, tea, touch of dark fruits
Palate - soft carb, light to medium body. Finish is considerably dry, some earthy hop bitterness
Overall - Better than your average bitter beer - quite decent
