This traditional dark mild won the bronze medal at the SIBA Northern region beer competition 2010 as well as being voted the winner in its class at Bradford beer festival 2010. The blend of 5 malts used in the mash give a smooth, mellow easy to drink malt flavour with a hint of liquorices in the finish.

Dark mild. Good session beer at 3.7%. Makes a nice change from all the hoppy IPA style beers flooding the market.

Bottle from Matkroken Natland, Bergen. Pours a deep, near-black bronze-hued clear brown body with a small white head. Aroma is burnt sugar, caramel, bready malts and hints of toffee. Taste is toffee, slightly burnt bread crusts, caramel and hints of nuts. Light body, soft to medium carbonation. A pleasant, complex yet easy-going dark mild from Ilkley.

Sample from bottle at hotel room tasting. ABV is 3.7%. Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Mild roasty notes in the aroma. Smooth and pleasant flavour, mild roasty notes, hints of mild coffee and chocolate, but not sweet. I could easily drink a few pnts of this one. Will buy again.
