0.5l bottle as Holy Cow. This is a clear warm deep dark amber almost bronze looking thing with a medium sized bubbly and light lacing cream white top. Initially not very inviting on the nose. Old and locked up earthy aromas with old coffee and old vegetables. After a while it gets a bit more interesting, sweet caramel and malty but not something I would have identifies as a stout in any format what so ever. It luckily tastes much better. Mild roasted all the way, and itís definitely not to sweet. Lots of burned grains and coffee here and it has a mild metallic touch to the strong bitterness. Feels light oily in the mouth and it has a below average carbonation level. Did not start off all that good, but it grows in you. Old chocolate hints in the nutty bitter finish and aftertaste. 20.12.2013

Clear, dark copper body with a rather small, off-white head that leaves some lacing. Roasted, moderate aroma with mild coffee, acidic fruits/berries and spices, with dark dried fruits and chocolate in the back. Very nice! The moderate flavour is less roasted, what dominates are fruits (rather acidic ones) and herbs in the fairly long-lasting moderate bitter and light acidic finish. Also fainter notes of dark dried fruits, coffee and chocolate. Moderate sweet initial taste. Mid-bodied, oily texture and too flat carbonation. A decent brew.

Keg @ Brewery Tap, Leeds as Holy Cow. A fair amount of roasted bitterness for a milk stout and canít pick out any cranberry. Canít help feeling confused drinking this but still, quite a nice beer. Would like to try from a bottle to get a better idea of this.

Pours see through black, no real head. Aroma is of toasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, with some chocolate malts very easy going and sadly a bit watery, cranberry seems to be missing completely.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Ales By Mail
Dark caramel brown, clear, thin frothy off white head, looks like a dark brown bitter rather than a stout
Aroma - Soft fruity caramel malts, touch of toasted malt, slight alcohol, slight plastic, dull
Taste - Caramel malts, soft fruits, bit yeasty, dab of roasted malt, no cranberry at all, nothing like a milk stout, more a roasted bitter.
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, very oily texture, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft fruity malts, some bitter twiggy hops. Finish as main flavour, toasted malt, slight roasted chocolate tail, over oily finish
Overall - itís not a milk stout at all, doesnít look, taste or have the nose of one. I wanted a cranberry milk stout and got a fruity, twiggy, over oily, fairly strong brown bitter. Iím marking this down heavily as the beer is so far from the description. The Siberia bottle I got a month ago was clear with no rhubarb, inferior and unlike the original beer. What is going on with this brewery?

Red berries and chocolate aroma. Taste of chocolate and of course loads of cranberry, with aftertaste of the latter. Light finish. A very fresh stout.
