Cask at CBC Brixton on 12th October 2012. Deep brown with pale brown head soon decaying to ring and film. Fruity aroma with plenty of berries. Raspberry/cranberry in-mouth with floral hoppiness. Lemon and peach present late on, with a deliciously fruity yet not oversweet finish. Light mouthfeel and body but mild texture. Well crafted, rated as a novelty beer.

Not very much milk or cranberry in the flavor. Nice taste from the malt and a somewhat Pilsner bitterness. Beautiful color and nice foam.

Cask as Holy Cow, black with a lasting ivory head, roasty choc and coffee nose, creamy body with strong burnt bitterness, roast cocoa, some umami in the finish. Delicious.

Leighton (10483) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2012
Cask at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Pours clear, dark gold with a fine, beige cream head. Aroma holds some modest lactic sugars, modest roast, some leather, dirt and wet wood. Medium sweet flavor with mellow chocolate, dirt, background dark fruits, mild earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with a bit more bitterness, plenty of dirt, earth and burnt leaves, along with toasty malts, milk chocolate and fruit skins. Quite a nice sweet stout.

Craft. Clear dark red beer, little pale tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly dry. Very mild roast in the otherwise mellow dark malt. Trace of smoke and lactose. Nice fruit - a little tart, not sure I would have identified Cranberry without already being in the know. Finishes dry with the mild roast and smoke carrying over in to the aftertaste and joined by subtle banana ester. Hangs together well.

Cask conditioned at the Ralph Fitz Randal (JDW), Richmond, Yorks. Medium tan head. Chestnut to mahogany body. Nose is black malt, hops, lime, roastiness, milk chocolate, spice and dark cherries. Bitter. Dry finish. Good.

Medium chestnut color. Light brown color. The nose is milk chocolate and cranberries, but not very strong. Wow, the mouth is really creamy and you it tastes like melted dark chocolate with cranberries. Not sweet. Smooth as can be. Really lovely. Lingering chocolatey finish. Med full bodied. What makes this beer great is that it easily could be too sweet or cloying but never gets anywhere near there. The chocolate just stays in the mouth.

Bottle labelled as "Holy Cow" from Systembolaget. Pours nice mahogany brown or "ruby brown". Nice foamy head, beautiful lacing. Aroma is berry-sweet, maybe cranberry? A bit of caramel, malt sweetness, some roast. Taste is soft and slightly acidic, with some cranberry dryness. Roast bitterness has been balanced not with malt body but with some sweetness in the taste of this drink. Aftertaste has some burnt roasted bread bitterness. Medium-bodied, quite session able drink - with a non-threatining abc. Cranberry is a noticeable extra addition, making this beer even more interesting.

Holy Cow bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a hazy dark brown-copper coloured beer with chocolate and red fruity flavours with a slight sweetness followed by a very strong, dry, roasted finish. More of a roasted brown ale with fruit than a stout.
