3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Pours clear, dark gold with a fine, beige cream head. Aroma holds some modest lactic sugars, modest roast, some leather, dirt and wet wood. Medium sweet flavor with mellow chocolate, dirt, background dark fruits, mild earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with a bit more bitterness, plenty of dirt, earth and burnt leaves, along with toasty malts, milk chocolate and fruit skins. Quite a nice sweet stout.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Ales By Mail
Dark caramel brown, clear, thin frothy off white head, looks like a dark brown bitter rather than a stout
Aroma - Soft fruity caramel malts, touch of toasted malt, slight alcohol, slight plastic, dull
Taste - Caramel malts, soft fruits, bit yeasty, dab of roasted malt, no cranberry at all, nothing like a milk stout, more a roasted bitter.
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, very oily texture, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft fruity malts, some bitter twiggy hops. Finish as main flavour, toasted malt, slight roasted chocolate tail, over oily finish
Overall - it’s not a milk stout at all, doesn’t look, taste or have the nose of one. I wanted a cranberry milk stout and got a fruity, twiggy, over oily, fairly strong brown bitter. I’m marking this down heavily as the beer is so far from the description. The Siberia bottle I got a month ago was clear with no rhubarb, inferior and unlike the original beer. What is going on with this brewery?

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Red berries and chocolate aroma. Taste of chocolate and of course loads of cranberry, with aftertaste of the latter. Light finish. A very fresh stout.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours dark color with a off white head. Very few aromas, but berries and a hint of metallic, not fantastic... The taste is roasted malts, chocolate and some fruits. Not a sweet stout at all, and where is the cranberries??

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma and colour of this beer aren’t what I was expecting. I’d say this is a red ale parading as a stout.
The milk stout taste is detectable if you swill at the front or swallow straight away, otherwise the cranberry’s bitterness can overpower slightly.
I wasn’t paying attention to the head / pour, unfortunately. When standing, the colour is much lighter than other stouts - somewhat reminiscent of flat Coca-Cola.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Holy Cow bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a hazy dark brown-copper coloured beer with chocolate and red fruity flavours with a slight sweetness followed by a very strong, dry, roasted finish. More of a roasted brown ale with fruit than a stout.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cooked vegetables in the aroma, not much of anything else. Maybe some cranberries are noticeable
Dark red, way to bright for a stout. White head.
No maltiness but nice bitterness in the taste. Unfourtunately also some dishsoap
Full body, soft carbonation and creamy texture
Not very nice and not a stout

Caramel, nuts, coffee and roasted malt in the aroma. Dark brown with a white head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body with a average carbonation. Dry and a bit bitter finish. Overall OK, but not very exciting or extraordinary.
